Erling Haaland had a fantastic debut season in the Premier League as he was simply outstanding scoring 36 goals for Manchester City that helped them go on to win the Premier League. Haaland won the Golden Boot last season and is the betting favorite to win the Golden Boot this season with odds of 4/6.

Mohamed Salah who won the Golden Boot in 2021-2022 is also among the top three favorites with odds of 7/1 while Harry Kane has odds of 5/1. It’s pretty hard to predict the outright winner at the start of the Premier League season as injuries, game time and form will play a huge factor in who ends up with the Golden Boot this season!

What Happened Last Season

The 31st season of the Premier League turned out to be another exciting and thrilling season for Premier League fans. The season was unique because the league had to take a break mid-season to give way for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Premier League saw three new teams promoted with Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Fulham joining the league and surviving the drop back into the Championship. A total of 380 games were played during the season with 1,084 goals scored overall, which is an average of 2.85 goals per game.

Manchester City ended up winning their third consecutive Premier League championship with 3 games in hand after trailing most of the season to Arsenal who capitulated their 5 point lead in March, much to the disappointment of their fans who were hoping to win their first title in over 20 years.

Ten Hag’s debut season with Manchester United ended with a victory in the Carabao Cup and runners up in the FA Cup which they lost to Manchester City as well as qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. Newcastle United also qualified for UEFA Champions League for the first time in 20 years and had their highest finish in the league since the great Sir Bobby Robson. Liverpool FC who last season were aiming to win an unprecedented Quadruple endured a terrible season, ending their misery by finishing outside the Champions League qualification places for the first time since 2015-16. Chelsea who shocked everyone early in the season by sacking Thomas Tuchel, hired Graham Potter and spent £600m over the two windows failed to also make the cut.

At the other end of the table Southhampton were the first to be relegated ending 11 consecutive seasons in the top flight. The final two places were confirmed on a dramatic last day of the season with Everton, Leeds United & Leicester City all battling to survive. Leeds United were the first to fall as they were put to the sword by Tottenham Hotspur 4 – 1, Everton also won 1 – 0 which meant that Leicester City despite winning 2 – 1 against West Ham were relegated.

It was a big success overall, as this was the second consecutive Premier League season where 15 million fans were in attendance in combined games.

Premier League Title Contenders

Manchester City

Odds To Win: 8/11
Finish In Top 4: 1/20

Manchester City has won 5 Premier League titles in the last 6 years, including three consecutive wins.

They go in as betting favorites once again this season as they look to make it 4 in a row!

It will be hard to stop City who have Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland in their squad along with a bunch of other top players including Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Rúben Dias and new signing Mateo Kovačić.

Arsenal

Odds To Win: 9/2
Odds To Win: 4/11

Mikel Arteta will marshal his troops this season as they look to toppled Manchester City and put an end to their dominance. Arsenal had a good season last year which is why they are among the top 3 betting favorites to win the Premier League this season and have already taken a major scalp with the Community Shield win against City.

They have a quality bunch of players with the likes of Jorginho, Declan Rice, Kavi Havertz, Bukayo Sako and Gabriel Jesus. The one concern for Arsenal going into this season is whether Gabriel Jesus will recover quickly and be able to play as many games as possible this season.

Liverpool FC

Odds To Win: 15/2
Finish In Top 4: 8/15

Liverpool F.C won the Premier League in 2020 but has struggled to get back to their winning ways since! Jürgen Klopp signed a new deal with Liverpool till 2026 and will be keen on helping the team put in a much better performance this season. Liverpool finished in 5th place last season having won just 19 out of their 38 games.

Liverpool are among the top betting favorites as they have a strong line-up of players which includes Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Outsider: Manchester United

Odds To Win: 10/1
Finish In Top 4: 8/11

The last time Manchester United won the Premier League was back in 2013 and they haven’t looked really threatening since then!

However, we are going to back them as a dark horse this season as Erik ten Hag has another chance to turn around the fortunes of United who finished in third place last season having won 23 out of their 38 games. United have had uneventful transfer window for a change with them completing deals for André Onana £47.2m, Mason Mount £55m and Rasmus Højlund £72m, strengthening key areas needed without much usual long drawn out processes.

United are still in the rebuilding phase and will look to sell before the end of the window with more potential players incoming – Can United give the contenders a real headache this season?

Relegation Predictions

Luton Town

Odds to go down: 3/10

Luton Town also known as The Hatters surprised quite a few teams after moving from 5th place to joining the Premier League which they managed to do by securing 4 promotions during the last 10 seasons. They will hold the record for having the smallest ground this season in the Premier League with a seating capacity of just Kenilworth.

Some of the players to watch out for are James Shea, Elijah Adebayo and Tom Lockyer.

Sheffield United

Odds to go down: 8/13

The Blades spent two seasons in the second division and worked hard to get a place in the Premier League.

Paul Heckingbottom has done a good job with The Blades as they have looked to play an attacking brand of football which will continue in the Premier League.

Some of the players to watch out for include Rhian Brewster, Oli McBurnie and Daniel Jebbison.

Burnley

Odds to go down: 5/2

Burnley have transformed under the leadership of Vincent Kompany who has mentored the side and changed both their game plan and mindset! Kompany was widely respected as a player who helped Manchester City win four Premier League titles.

He will use that knowledge and experience to help Burnley this season. Some of the players to watch out for include Wout Weghorst, Anass Zaroury, Jordan Beyer and Vitinho.

Outsider: Wolverhampton

Odds to go down: 11/4

The Wolverhampton Wanderers will be playing their 6th consecutive season in the Premier League.

The Wolves struggled last season in the first 16 games and ended up getting just 11 points. The Wolves sacked Bruno Lage and replaced him with Spain’s Julen Lopetegui who will be looking to start strong this season!

Some of the players to watch out for are Fabio Silva, Joao Gomes, Mario Lemina and Sasa Kalajdzic.
