A week ago I decided to give 888sport a shot. I’ve always been a big sports fan and putting a bit of money on the game makes watching the game a lot more exciting for me. Over all I thought this was a decent website. They had an offer where I could deposit $10 and get $30 in free bets which was pretty nice to try out their site with minimal risk.

888sport is a straight up sports betting site where you can place wagers on basically any different game. They've got all the major games, like soccer, American football, basketball etc. but you can also bet on some weird stuff like cricket and snooker if that is what you are into. Over all I thought it was a pretty decent design because it is minimalistic. When I go to an online bookie I'm just looking to make some bets so it doesn't need a lot of unnecessary graphics or complicated interfaces. Just give me the odds and the games and make it straight forward so I can place my bet.

Legalities

One nice thing about 888sport is that they are a pretty big name in online gambling. 888poker is one of the bigger poker sites out there. I don't know about you, but I like to be sure that when I place a bet I am going to get paid if I win. Because 888 is such a big name with a reputation to protect I'm sure they are not going to rob me. Another nice thing about these guys is that they licensed by the UK gambling commission.

Personally I wouldn't mess with any company that didn't have at least some license. A lot of fly by night places have a license from Curaçao or Kahnawake, and I'm not saying these guys are all corrupt necessarily, but I have a little more confidence in the ability of the UK government to properly provide oversight than some tiny Caribbean nation.

Pros

In terms of the good things that I liked betting at 888sport were the lines. Over all the lines they had were pretty reasonable and fair. From time to time I would check other sites to see what sort of odds they were offering on a bet I would want to make and usually 888sport was at least on par. Look, I know that when I make a bet they are taking some juice. That is just part of the game, but I don't want to be juiced too badly. So if they have fair lines which are competitive with other sites than that is solid and I respect that. They also offered all of the games that I wanted to bet on. I mostly like to bet on basketball, because it is a lot more fast paced and exciting than other sports and because I have been following it since I was a kid. Another good thing about the website was that it loads very quickly and has an easy to navigate interface. Everything is clear and concise which is important when there is money on the line.

Cons

So one bad thing about 888sport is that it is strictly sports. A lot of other sportsbooks offer table games, slots and even poker with just the click of a button. So that would be nice if they could add some blackjack or roulette for me to play as well as offering sports bets. Another area they could improve would be to offer wagers on eSports. It's not a big deal obviously but eSports are becoming a bigger part of the gambling market so I would like to see that included.

Bonuses can be a great way to boost your bankroll. I already mentioned the free bet bonus earlier for new accounts, where you deposit $10 and get $30 in free bets. This is a great introductory offer if you have never had an account on 888sport before.

There are some specific terms to this bonus. First of all you need to use the code 30f when you make your deposit, as well as clicking a link in your e-mail to activate them. Then you have to make a bet with your deposit. You also need to go for odds of 1.5 or greater. Also if you deposit with Paypal, Entropay, Paysafe, Neteller or Skrill you cannot participate in this bonus so if you want to get the free bets you have to use a different deposit method. Also the free bet tokens expire within a week, so make sure to get the action down before that happens. Over all these restrictions / terms are pretty reasonable and this is a great offer if you have never played on 888sport before.

Another promotion that is ongoing at the moment on 888sport is a 25% weekend winnings boost for live in play football (soccer). So if you place five or more in live play football bets then you get a 25% winnings boost token you can use on any bet. Please note this is only for the weekend so only bets placed on Friday, Saturday or Sunday qualify. The more you bet the bigger your token. So if you place 5 live bets you get a 25% profit boost token (PBT), but if you make 10 live bets you get a 50% PBT, if you do 15 bets then it is a 75% PBT and if you place 20 in play bets you get a 100% PBT token. These tokens expire after 3 days so make sure to use them quickly.

Mobile

Often when I was using 888sport I would load the website on my phone and it worked great. Personally I often like to bet on the go, so it is convenient to have that option and for the website to be customized to work on my android. They even have a betting app to make this whole experience more convenient. Often times I would forget about a bet I wanted to make at home but then be reminded when I was out and about so having this connectivity no matter where I am is very convenient and I liked that about this website.

Banking

In terms of deposit and withdrawal options, these guys offer support for Visa and Mastercard, as well as for services like Instant Banking, InstaDebit, PayR, entropay, iDebit, paysafecard and Wire Transfer. Personally I just used my credit card because that was most convenient for me but watch out because usually credit card companies charge gambling transactions as cash advances so you start paying interest right away and they are some additional charges. Usually the services that take the money from your bank account have the lowest fees.

Conclusion

Over all I really enjoyed playing on 888sport. I had a nice little upswing to my bankroll playing there which I guess made the experience even more enjoyable. But they do have a solid website to bet sports on, with a lot of different games to choose between and different deposit options as well. I liked that they had pretty good lines and lot of selection and their sports betting app was convenient the use. They could maybe expand the options a bit to include casino games and eSports, and maybe a few more bonuses would be good too. Most importantly they are part of a pretty massive gambling organization that is licensed by a first world country, so I never had any concern about getting paid out which is important.
