The Formula One season heads to Monza, Italy this weekend, a grand prix that is one for the fans, as it is known as the fastest circuit in the world. On top of that, the F1 sprint format of the weekend will return, after plaudits from the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Max Verstappen continues to hold a lead at the top of the Drivers Championship, but he’s just three points in front of Lewis Hamilton, with every point from now until the end of the season being vital.

Last Race: Dutch Grand Prix
Last weekend the Formula One calendar took us to the Netherlands, for the second game since the mid-season break.
Max Verstappen came out on top in that race, beating Lewis Hamilton by 20 seconds, with the British driver finishing second.
Valtteri Bottas was the man to finish third on the podium.
Italian GP 2021 Race Analysis
The biggest element of this race to look at is that the sprint format will be in place. Couple that with this being the fastest track on the calendar and the winners here will be the ones that have their car absolutely perfect on the weekend.
If there are any small areas where the car is not 100% ready, a team could fail here.
Hamilton and Mercedes handled this brilliantly when we saw it in play at Silverstone, which should give them confidence that they can do it again here.

Drivers To Watch Out For
The two title contenders will get most of the attention, but there are three places on the podium, so one to fight for, even if the big two dominate.

Lewis Hamilton
Including this race, we have nine to go in the season, and things couldn’t be any closer. Three points is the advantage for Verstappen, but that is nothing, and Hamilton who signed a new contract February will be targeting this weekend as a place where he could overtake his rival.
The British driver hasn’t been at his best though, and able to separate himself as a winner, rather than just finishing on the podium. He’s won just one of the last nine races, which is completely different from the dominance we are used to seeing from him.

Max Verstappen
Verstappen comes here with a three-point lead in the Drivers Championship and on the back of a great win last weekend to boost his confidence.
Although he did not finish at Silverstone earlier in the year, he did win the sprint contest to claim pole position that day.
That could prove to be crucial and certainly adds a different element to the race this weekend for fans and gamblers to try and work out.
Odds to win: 2.10
Valtteri Bottas
This season, Valtteri Bottas has made a habit of finishing on the podium, either behind the big two or being one of the drivers to take advantage of any failings they have had. He may appeal to those looking to bet at bigger odds, or betting each way, for this reason.
In the last six races, Bottas has made the podium on four occasions, the same amount of times as Verstappen and one less than Hamilton. With that in mind, and with each way betting available, it will be no surprise to see Bottas popular with punters this weekend.
Odds to win: 12.00
Sergio Perez
We don’t see the same consistency from Perez as we do from Bottas, but he does have a win to his name after winning the Azerbaijan Grand Prix back in June. The teammate of Max Verstappen can go well on his day though and is a fairly unpredictable driver.
A re-run of that win seems unlikely for him, but if there are any issues with the main two then there is a chance that someone like Perez may be able to have a good day and get involved at the finish.

Dark Horse: Lando Norris
The final driver to look at is Lando Norris, who leads the Mclaren Mercedes team. He’s been on the podium three times so far this season, which is probably a little disappointing and he will be looking to add to that over the next few weeks as he aims to end the season well.
There are other drivers who look more capable than Norris of getting involved in this race but as ever, F1 can throw up many situations, and Norris has a car capable of taking advantage if anything like that happens.

Our Prediction
The Italian Grand Prix looks set to give us a very exciting weekend of action, due to the nature of this circuit and the fact that we are seeing the sprint format in place to determine the final grid positions for the contest.
Most of the attention will focus on the big two, and rightfully so as they are locked in a real battle for the Drivers Championship.
Lewis Hamilton has not been at his best recently, and he will be looking to turn that around, but the ultra-consistent Max Verstappen may be able to defeat him again.
Of the big two, we like Verstappen to win the race, and build on the three-point lead that he has in the standings as we go into the weekend. The sprint format should hold no fears, as he qualified on pole through this at Silverstone when this format was in place.
Those looking for a driver at bigger odds, Valtteri Bottas has been very consistent recently and looks to be the best of the rest.
