Week five of the NFL 2019 season will kick off with a very important game on Thursday Night Football. The Seattle Seahawks will host the Los Angeles Rams in a battle of two of the top teams in the NFC West Division.
Both of these teams are currently looking up at the San Francisco 49ers, but a lot can change before the end of the season.
Traditionally, Thursday Night Football Games have been sloppy affairs, but this is one of the best matchups of the season.
Los Angeles looked as if they had picked up where they left off a season ago, but they suffered a stunning defeat in week four.
The Rams opened up the season with three straight victories and were flying high, but then they got upset in a big way by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week four to drop their record to 3-1. Seattle is also 3-1 this season, but they have had some close calls throughout the season. The Seahawks do enjoy one of the best home field advantages in the NFL, and they will need their crowd in this game. Los Angeles is a -1.0 point favourite on Thursday Night Football.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams have a ton of weapons on the offensive side of the ball, and head coach Sean McVay knows how to take advantage of the weapons. Quarterback Jared Goff threw for over 500 yards in the week four loss to Tampa Bay, and running back Todd Gurley is capable of having a big game each week. Generating offense is never easy in Seattle, but the Rams have the weapons to get the job done.
Offense has not been a problem for the Rams so far this season, but defense has been. The Rams gave up 55 points to an average Tampa Bay team in week four, and they have really struggled to defend the pass this season. Defensive tackle Aaron Donald has recorded just one sack so far this season, and he really needs to pick things up for the Rams. Los Angeles won’t be facing a great offense in this game, but their defense still needs to show up.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks used to featured the “Legion of Boom” on defense, but that is no longer the case. The Seahawks have a very young secondary, and they will be tested by the passing attack of the Rams in this game. Head coach Pete Carroll always does a terrific job of coming up with a defensive game plan, but the Seahawks don’t have the athletes to match up with all of the talent on the Rams offense.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is the best player on the Seattle offense, and he is having another terrific season in leading this Seahawks team. The numbers don’t jump off of the page when looking at his statistics, but he just continues to make plays to lead his team to victory. Seattle will need to establish a running game in this one, and that is where Chris Carson comes in. Carson is not having a great year running the football so far, but the Seahawks will feed him the ball a ton in this game.

Prediction: Seahawks Get Back On Track
Winning in Seattle is never an easy task, but the Rams have the talent and the team to get the job done. The Seahawks will be trying to slow this game down while the Rams will try to turn up the tempo and win this one with their offense. Look for Los Angeles to establish the run in this game and for their offense to find some holes in the Seattle defense.
