The Oakland Raiders were expected to struggle this season, but they have been a pleasant surprise. Oakland comes into this game with a record of 4-4 after a nice home victory over the Detroit Lions in week nine.
The Raiders still have some room to grow, but they have been playing well despite having a difficult schedule of late.

Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders can run the football and it has kept them in almost every game they have played this season. Oakland comes into this game averaging over 136 rushing yards per game, and rookie Josh Jacobs has been carrying the load. Jacobs is nearing 800 rushing yards on the season, and is averaging more than 4.5 yards per carry. Quarterback Derek Carr is closing in on 2,000 passing yards this season, and he has been much improved with the Raiders improved running game.
Defense is still an issue for the Raiders, and they continue to get little to no pass rush. Trading away Khalil Mack depleted the defensive line for Oakland, but they tried to build it back up in the draft. The Raiders have just 15 sacks on the season, and they will need to get some pressure on Rivers in this game.

Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers really struggled on defense a season ago, but that has been the strength of their team this season. Los Angeles is allowing just 18.7 points per game this season, and they put together a great effort against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers a week ago. The Chargers held Rodgers to just 161 passing yards in that win, and delivered some huge hits to the All-Pro quarterback. Defensive end Joey Bosa has been leading the charge for this defense and has racked up 8.5 sacks on the season.
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has been terrific for his team this season, and it is starting to translate into victories. Rivers has thrown for over 2,600 yards already this season, but has thrown seven interceptions, and some of them have been costly. Running back Melvin Gordon is finally hitting his stride after sitting out at the beginning of the season in a contract dispute. The Chargers should have one of the best offenses in the entire NFL.

Both of these teams are trending in the right direction and they are trying to make things difficult for the division leading Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers want to win the game by throwing the football while Oakland has one of the top rushing attacks in the NFL.
