November 1, 2021 by David Nugent

Melbourne Cup TrophyThe horse racing event that stops the whole nation is getting closer and closer, with the G1 Melbourne Cup set at 3 pm on Tuesday. After a tumultuous 2020 race in Victoria, things could be back to normal in the 2021 Melbourne Cup.

And that means, unlike the 2020 event that was affected by the Covid restrictions, there will be spectators in attendance for this year’s race.

In 2020, Twilight Payment was the winner of the Melbourne Cup race. Should you put your money on Twilight payment to win in 2021?

Or should you choose another competitor with the best odds?

The experts have analysed the top four horses and an outsider, and below you will find more details about these competitors, their winning odds and the best sports sites to place bets on the Melbourne Cup.

If you want to place bets on this horse racing event, you do not just do it on any site that you find online. Here are the sites that have proven to offer the best odds and promotions on the Melbourne Cup competitions.

Horses to Watch Out For

Here are the main contenders for the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.

* Odds have been provided by William Hill and are accurate of November 1st, 2021

Twilight Payment

Twilight PaymentAfter his record-breaking win twelve months ago, Twilight Payment will be participating in another crack at the 2021 Melbourne Cup.

His lead-up form in both England and Ireland has been as excellent as it was in 2020. At Royal Ascot, he failed to lift the Gold Cup but returned to his excellent form to finish the second in the Irish ST Lager.

He finished the race second behind Sonnyboyliston. It takes the best horse to emerge the winner of the Melbourne Cup in a row.

Makybe Diva is the only heavyweight to have emerged as the back-to-back winner in the past 67 years. However, we cannot discount Twilight Payment.

Odds: 10.00

Incentivise

IncentiviseIncentivise has the best chance to become the first horse to complete the Melbourne Cup/Caufield Cup double. His smooth progression from the 8th place finish at Toowoomba to a dominant Caufield Cup victor has been staggering.

Incentivise proved his status with a hard-hitting first-up win in the Diva Makybe Stakes, and he enhanced that effort to emerge the winner of the Turnbull Stakes. His win in the Caulfield Cup competition was nothing short of top-notch.

While the wide barrier draw was a positive one, Brett Prebble was in a position to ride him as the best horse in the competition.

For sure, that was the most exciting Caulfield Cup win in history since Might and Power back in 1997. The 3,200-metre race does not look like it’ll be a problem to the Incentivise. He deserves his status as the most dominant favourite.

Odds: 2.75

Persan

PersanPersan was a real surprise package last year. Currently a five-year-old from Eustace and Maher stables, Persan was initially a struggling transfer from Payne David. In May, he won his first maiden at Bendigo before proceeding to become a horse racing winning machine. Across nine starts, Persan has been able to claim six winnings that culminated in G3 success in the 2500m The 2020 Bart Cymmings.

Persan’s 2021 has not been as successful as 2020, winning only one competition at The Valley in March. Despite that, Persan has been doing well in this campaign. He managed to grab the 3rd position ahead of some favourites before he finished 7th in the G1 Turnbull Stakes.

Racing well, Persan should be able to peak over the 2021 Melbourne Cup 3200m race and will likely sit in the first four positions. Last year, he finished 5th in the Melbourne Cup competition, meaning a top-four position is possible in 2021.

Odds: 23.00

She’s Ideel

She’s IdeelShe’s Ideel does not win out of turn. However, she has improved into a consistent fighter. She showed her good quality with an array of great performances in the autumn, which are highlighted by the 2nd position in the Tancred Stakes. Also, she was able to replicate that good form in the spring.

Finishing in the third position in the Winx Stakes shows that she is aiming for something big. She has shown some impressive performances in The Metropolitan, The Caufield Cup, Kingston Town Stakes and Chelmsford Stakes. Overall, she does not run a bad race, meaning she has better chances than her latest winning odds suggest.

Odds: 67.00

Carif

CarifThe victor of the 2020 Sandown Cup, Carif, carries some good odds for the 2021 Melbourne Cup. Beaten by a small margin in the G3 Premiers Cup and closely followed that with the 2nd behind Knights Order in the G2 Brisbane Cup, Carif can be able to pool a surprise in this year’s Melbourne Cup competition.

He started the campaign with a 4th position in the Cameron Handicap in England before missing out on the race in Hill Stakes. He bounced back to his excellent form to finish 4th in the St Lager Stakes. However, he was defeated in the Tatteesalls Cup competition. He has won over 3200m after winning the Ladbrokes Sandown Cup in 2020, but at this level, he looks outclassed.

Odds: 101.00

Expert Tips and Prediction

Placing a bet on the Melbourne Cup event is one of the best things that you can do as a punter. Whether you pick by number, colour, horse name or you back the favourite when you have something riding on the Melbourne Cup competition you are going to have a great time.

Our experts are confident that Twilight Payment is the favourite to win the 2021 Melbourne Cup. Twilight’s tough effort leading throughout the race to win last year’s competition with 55.5Kg is likely to repeat in 2021. Although he has increased the weight by 2.5kg, his current form is arguably better this year.

If you want to place bets with some competitive odds, then you should do that early enough. And you should bet at a Australian sportsbook that offers some bonuses and incentives on the Melbourne Cup 2021. To pick from the best options only, it is advisable to access the top sports sites to bet on the Melbourne Cup 2021 list.

The list includes sites that are known to offer competitive odds, generous promotions, different types of bets and quick withdrawals, among other great features. Pick your favourite one and place your bet on this event that stops the nation.
