Latest Odds On USA vs. Netherlands WWC Final 2019 With Analysis

July 4, 2019 by Ryan Knuppel

FIFA Womens World CupThe finals are set for Sunday, which means the Women’s World Cup is almost over. It will be sad to see it go till it returns in 2023, but it’s been one heck of a tournament.

It’s been filled with great performances, a few surprises, and plenty of VAR-induced controversy.

But gauging from the reception and global audience figures it looks like Women’s Football has finally made a mark, and hopefully it has inspired a new generation of fans and changed alot of perceptions.

Before we get to the two remaining teams, let’s take one last look at the tournament as a whole.

The Group Stage went very much as expected. Débutants like Scotland, Jamaica, and South Africa all struggled in their first taste of action on the world stage. The United States also stole the show early with a 13-0 thrashing of Thailand, setting the stage for the Americans to reach the finals for the third straight World Cup. Of course, outside of the U.S., the tournament has been dominated by European sides, with seven of the final eight teams hailing from Europe.

During the Knockout Stage, Italy and Norway made surprising runs to the quarter-finals while Germany and host nation France were also eliminated at that stage in the tournament, both going home sooner than expected. In the end, we’re left with the United States and the Netherlands to square off in the finals, pitting the reigning world champions against the upstart European champions.

United States

Key Players: Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan, Julie Ertz

The United States has arguably been the best team at the World Cup from start to finish. As mentioned, their tournament began with a 13-0 win over Thailand and the Americans didn’t stop there. They have won all six games in this tournament, including wins over England and France, who were ranked no. 3 and no. 4 in the world, respectively, coming into the World Cup, as well as semi-finalist Sweden.

They have scored 24 goals across their six games, scoring at least two goals in every game. They are just one win away from becoming the first team to win back-to-back Women’s World Cups and taking home their fourth world championship overall since the first tournament in 1991.

Odds To Win: -227

Netherlands

Key Players: Lieke Martens, Vivianne Miedema, Jill Roord, Shanice van de Sanden, Danielle van de Donk

Much like the U.S., the Dutch have won every game they’ve played in this tournament. They’ve been slightly less impressive over the course of their six wins. At times, the Netherlands has gotten by with only playing well for half a game. They’ve also been outplayed at times, particularly in the Knockout Stage against the likes of Japan, Italy, and Sweden.

However, they’ve always found a way to win and now find themselves in the finals of a major tournament for the second time in three years. The Dutch won the European Championship two years ago, and in a tournament dominated by European teams, it’s fitting that the continental champs will now play for a world championship.

Odds To Win: +612

Our Predication

The U.S. is a heavy favourites to win the finals with BetOnline. This is not a lock for the Americans, so there is plenty of upside to taking the Netherlands to pull off the upset. But barring an uncharacteristically bad performance by the U.S., it’ll take something special from the Dutch to win.

Bet on the Americans to lift the trophy once again.
