Raise Your Query On Cryptocurrencies To ECB President Mario Draghi

The European Central Bank has announced that its President Mario Draghi will participate in the third youth dialogue organized in partnership with Debating Europe, an online platform which facilitates discussing current issues with the European leaders.

The three topics that will be discussed are possibility of a new global economic crisis, cryptocurrencies and blockchain, and Europe’s economic recovery and youth unemployment. Individuals aged between 16 and 35 can join the discussion.

The ECB has requested interested people to raise their query using the social media platforms Twitter or Facebook, including the hashtags #AskDraghi / #ECBYouthDialogue. The deadline for submission is 12:00 noon CET on Tuesday, 23 January, 2018.

The ECB Youth Dialogues are a series of talks held by ECB policymakers with students and young people from different countries and backgrounds. The program enables the leaders to hear and discuss the views of the present generation on topics related to economics and central banking.

As a prelude to the discussion, the ECB conducted opinion poll on Twitter, asking whether Bitcoin could offer a viable alternative to traditional currencies. 29,506 people participated in the poll. Survey results indicate 75% of the participants have voted ‘yes’, while only ‘13%’ have voted ‘no’.
