The two best teams in the NFL have made it to Super Bowl Sunday and on paper both teams look extremely strong and balanced, which is reflected in the betting odds as sportsbooks have them pretty even at -110.

The Chiefs and the 49ers will not have the home advantage as they are playing in Las Vegas where the crowd support should be equally split as fans from both teams are expected to pack the Allegiant Stadium.

Our team of football experts predict that this will be a very competitive game that could be decided in the final minutes!

Super Bowl LVIII Team Analysis

When we look at the history of games between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers we see that it has always been a very competitive affair. The two teams have played each other 15 times so far with the Chiefs winning 8 of those games and the 49ers winning 7 games.

If we look at the last three times that these two teams clashed, we see that the Chiefs have got the better of the 49ers on all three occasions. The last game between the two teams was in October 2022 when the 49ers hosted the Chiefs at home but lost 23-44.

Things will look very different at Super Bowl LVIII as the pressure on both teams will be very different to a regular season game. The Chiefs will be under the extra bit of pressure given that they are the defending champions while the 49ers will try and use that to their advantage to dethrone the defending champs.

We give you a breakdown of how both of these teams played this season and advanced to the finals. We also look at the betting odds below and share our prediction as to who we think will be Super Bowl LVIII Champions!

* Odds have been provided by BetOnline and are accurate as of 05/02/2024

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers had a similar season to the Chiefs and finished with a 12-5 record that helped them become the National Football Conference (NFC) champions. They had a great start to their season and went 5-0 before losing their way a bit in the middle and registering 3 consecutive losses.

The combination of Kyle Shanahan (head coach) and John Lynch (GM) who have been together for the last 7 seasons has given the 49ers the stability they needed this season after they lost quarter back Jimmy Garoppolo to the Raiders and safety Jimmie Ward to the Texans in the same week.

The 49ers look very well balanced which reflects in the fact that they are in the top 10 teams in terms of both offense and defensive categories. What they have done well this season is gel together as a team and that helped create an NFL record as 4 of their players have over 1,000 scrimmage yards.

The key players for the 49ers going into Super Bowl Sunday will be defensive lineman Nick Bosa, quarter-back Brock Purdy and running back Christian McCaffrey.

Current Odds: -110

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs did not have an impressive season as they would have liked and finished with a 11-6 record compared to a 11-3 record last season. However, they still ticked a lot of boxes and ended up winning another AFC Championship, registering their 11th consecutive season win and 8th consecutive AFC Championship.

One reason for the Chiefs not being as dominant as they have been in the last season is quarter-back Patrick Mahomes performance as he registered his worst stats in multiple categories which includes interceptions, passing yards per game and yards per attempt. He did have his moments this season which has helped him get 27 touchdowns and register a top career high in throwing percentage at 67.2 percent.

The Chiefs have gotten more than their fair share of publicity this season thanks to Travis Kelce and his superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift. He has once again led the Chiefs in terms of receiving yards making it the 4th time in 5 seasons.

Both Mahomes and Kelce will have to bring their A game against the 49ers for the Chiefs to win back to back championships. One of their biggest keys to victories will be the strategy that head coach Andy Reid implements against the 49ers.

Reid has helped the Chiefs make it to 4 out of the last 5 Super Bowl finals and will look to create something special by leading the Kansas City Chiefs to victory at Super Bowl LVIII.

Current Odds: -110

Our Prediction

This is going to be a very closely competitive game that can swing back and forth due to the offensive and defensive quality of both teams. The Chiefs have grown accustomed in recent years to playing in Super Bowl finals and that experience will be highly beneficial for them on Super Bowl Sunday and could give them that slight edge over the 49ers.

While the overall record between the Chiefs and 49ers is 8-7, the Chiefs have been dominant in recent years winning their last 3 encounters. Our betting pundits are going to back the Kansas City Chiefs to continue to maintain their recent win record against the San Francisco 49ers and win Super Bowl LVIII!
