Best Odds & Predictions For NFL Kickoff Game 2019 - Bears vs. Packers

August 29, 2019 by Ryan Knuppel

NFL: Kickoff GameThe 2019 NFL season is set to begin next Thursday night to begin the 100th season of play. Fans will be treated to a great game to kick off the season as the Green Bay Packers will travel to Chicago to take on the Bears.

This is also the 100th season of Chicago Bears football, and their fans think that this could be another Super Bowl winning team. The Bears and Packers are the most bitter rivals in the NFL, and there is no love lost between the NFC North rivals.

The Bears came out of nowhere a season ago to win the NFC North Division with a record of 12-4. Chicago returns almost every single player from their starting lineup, and head coach Matt Nagy is the reigning coach of the year.

The Green Bay Packers had a miserable 2018 season, finishing with a record of 6-9-1. Green Bay will have a new head coach in Matt LaFleur, and the Packers will also be celebrating their 100th year this season, but just 98 of them have been in the NFL.

The Chicago Bears come into this game as -3.0 point favourites over the Green Bay Packers, but you can usually throw the odds out the window when these bitter rivals take the field. The Chicago Bears are -165 on the moneyline while the Green Bay Packers check in at +140. The Packers have dominated the season series in the last decade, but the roles seemed to change last season. The over/under for total points in this game is set at 46.0.

Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears

Current Odds: -165

The Chicago Bears led the NFL in almost every single defensive category a season ago, including takeaways and touchdowns. The Bears also had 50 sacks, and linebacker Khalil Mack is one of the best defensive players in entire league.

Chicago also has an offensive-minded quarterback in Mitchell Trubisky, and they have a ton of weapons on that side of the ball. Nagy and the Bears offense was solid a season ago, but they are expected to make a huge jump this season.

Mitchell Trubisky

Player to watch: Mitchell Trubisky

Mitchell Trubisky will be in his second year under Matt Nagy, and just his third overall season in the NFL. Trubisky threw for just 3,200 yards a season ago, but also made several plays with his legs.

Chicago has done a tremendous job of bringing in weapons to surround Trubisky, and he seems poised for a huge 2019 season.

Green Bay Packers

Current Odds: +140

The Green Bay Packers continue to have one of the best offenses in football, but they just can’t figure things out on defense. Green Bay had some horrible defensive games in 2018, but they went with an offensive-minded coach in Matt LaFleur.

The Packers team will look a lot different this season, but they still have their superstar quarterback under center. If Green Bay is going to make a return to the playoffs this season then they are going to have to find a way to get some stops on defense.

Aaron Rodgers

Player to watch: Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league even though he failed to get the Packers to the playoffs a season ago.

Rodgers threw for over 4,400 yards in 2018, and threw two interceptions. The Packers just keep trading away all of his favourite targets, but he continues to put up monster numbers with whoever is with him on the field.

Our Prediction

This should be a close game for awhile, but eventually the Chicago Bears are going to pull away. They just have too much talent at almost every single position, and their defense is the best in the NFL. Bet the Chicago Bears -3.0 over the Green Bay Packers, and take the under 46.0 total points in this game.
