Meredith Scheffler: “I Am So Proud of You.”
As he walked off the 72nd green, Scheffler was greeted by a now-familiar scene: a warm embrace from his wife, Meredith, and their baby son, Bennett.
The young family huddled together in a moment full of joy and pride. With tears in her eyes, Meredith whispered to her husband, “I am so proud of you, so proud of you.”
Little Bennett, meanwhile, was blissfully unaware of the magnitude of what had just unfolded. Smiling, Meredith looked at her son and said, “You don’t know what just happened, but that’s pretty cool.”
Scottie’s parents were also present, who’ve supported him every step of the way.
His father, Scott Scheffler Sr., clearly moved by his son’s performance, expressed his admiration in words that said it all:
Words can’t describe what we just watched. You are the toughest guy, and the sweetest boy. I’m so proud of you. Thank you for never giving up, Scottie
Halfway to the Career Grand Slam
The win marked another milestone in Scheffler’s journey toward golf’s elite, putting him halfway to the coveted career Grand Slam.
While the week came with challenges, particularly with his swing, Scheffler showed the grit and resilience that have become his trademark.
Reflecting on the experience, he said that he was “really proud” of the way they fought. “It was a battle out there for four days.”, he added while also taking the opportunity to credit his team, including caddie Teddy Scott, coach Randy Smith, and trainer Martin, for helping him get across the finish line.
Longtime coach Randy Smith, who’s been with Scheffler since his youth, was also on hand for the win. Speaking of their close bond, Scheffler said, “Yeah, it’s tough to really put into words what Randy means to me… he definitely is family to me.”
It was a fitting celebration for a champion, surrounded by the people who helped shape his journey, and a new chapter beginning with his own growing family
