McGregor Wants Exhibition Fight Against Tenshin Nasukawa

RIZIN and young Japanese kick-boxer Tenshin Nasukawa have received a lot of attention in the last few months after they worked out a deal to bring Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather over to Japan to fight Tenshin Nasukawa in a 3 round exhibition fight.

Conor McGregor is currently suspended from fighting in the UFC pending a hearing scheduled by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for later this month. McGregor surprised a lot of his fans with his recent tweet in which he called on the UFC and his management to set up a fight in Tokyo against Nasukawa.

The Notorious One wants the fight to be an MMA exhibition bout and wants it to take place before the summer. It’s pretty hard to tell if McGregor is being serious about wanting to fight the 20 year old kick-boxer and get a quick payday or if he is sending a message out to Floyd Mayweather in the hopes of rekindling their beef to set up a second mega-boxing fight.

Mayweather received a reported $9 million for his exhibition boxing match against Tenshin Nasukawa which lasted for less than 3 minutes as Nasukawa’s corner threw in the towel. Many believe that the fight was fixed as Nasukawa was dropped multiple times and left the arena crying.

Nasukawa Responds To McGregor’s Callout

It did not take long for the Japanese kickboxing sensation to respond to McGregor’s callout. He sent him a respectful tweet which only fuels the rumours that this exhibition MMA fight could really take place this year.

In a tweet, Nasukawa said

Dear Mr. McGregor. Thank you very much for remembering my name. I’m honoured that you would even consider fighting me. 58kg [127 pounds], kickboxing rules would probably get us in the ring sometime in the near future

His tweet is interesting because if those conditions were mandatory, then it is a given that McGregor will not be able to fight him simply because McGregor cannot get down to 127 pounds. Conor McGregor’s last fight in the UFC against Khabib Nurmagomedov was at 155 pounds and there are doubts that McGregor can even make 145 pounds.

It looks like Nasukawa is very well aware of this fact as his second tweet called on McGregor to watch him fight at the RISE World Grand Prix and keep a close watch on his diet. It is probably another way of Nasukawa telling McGregor that he is not really interested in ‘exhibition’ fights anymore!
