While top international sports including basketball, football and cricket have resumed their seasons, the boxing world has struggled to get up and running. Boxing fans have had very little quality action since COVID-19 came to the fore.
There were rumours floating around last week that the Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III fight was not going to take place.
Those rumours have now been confirmed by Fury’s promoter Frank Warren who claimed that the Gypsy King has had enough and decided to move on from the Wilder trilogy fight.
Fury fought Wilder in February 2020 and finished the fight to win the WBC heavyweight belt.
Wilder was keen to get the third match done before the end of 2020 but COVID-19 interrupted things and those plans did not come to fruition. Warren said that the two camps did their best to work things out for a third fight but were unable to reach an agreement.

It is important to point out that the Fury vs. Wilder III fight is not being postponed for a later date. As of now, it looks like Fury has decided to put Wilder in the rear view mirror and move on to new opponents.
Fury To Fight Unnamed Opponent In 2020
Tyson Fury has had his last four fights on American soil and his February 2020 fight with Wilder in Las Vegas turned out to be the highest grossing gate worth over $20 million in heavyweight boxing history. With America having strict COVID-19 regulations in place, empty stadiums are now the norm.
This is one of the reasons why Fury’s camp has decided that it is time for him to move back to the UK and have his next bout on home soil. There is no indication as of now as to who Tyson Fury will fight in the UK but Warren has confirmed that Fury wants to get another fight done before the end of 2020.
As of now, they are looking at a potential fight on the Lyndon Arthur vs. Anthony Yarde card which takes place in Albert Hall on 28 November. If that does not work out, Fury will most likely fight in December 2020.
Warren said the goal is for Fury to win that fight and then target a potential fight in 2021 against fellow Brit Anthony Joshua who is scheduled to fight Kubrat Pulev on 12 December.
