One After the Other
Angel Reese‘s latest record came only days after another standout performance against the Sparks. On Thursday, she scored 20 points without missing a shot, going 9-for-9 from the field, while recording 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals in Atlanta’s 124-88 victory.
Against Los Angeles on Monday, Atlanta also received 20 points from Allisha Gray and 18 from Rhyne Howard. The Dream controlled the second half after trailing at halftime and held on for the seven-point victory.
The Sparks were led by Nneka Ogwumike, who posted a season-high 27 points and 16 rebounds. Cameron Brink and Dearica Hamby each added 15 points, but Los Angeles fell to 13-25 and lost for the seventh time in its past eight games.
Reese’s record-breaking night also moved her within one double-double of the WNBA’s single-season record of 28, set by Alyssa Thomas in 2023.
After the game, Reese credited veteran players for helping her develop her game, specifically mentioning former WNBA rebounding leader Tina Charles and the advice Charles gave her during their time playing against each other.
