Tom Brady Says Goodbye To The Patriots, Signs $30m Bucs Deal

There were many Tom Brady fans who felt that the New England Patriots quarter-back would not go into free agency and play out his career with the Patriots.

They had good reason to believe Brady would stick with the Patriots for he played his entire NFL career with the Patriots and achieved massive success with the franchise.

Brady surprised this section of fans on 17 March when he took to social media (shown below) to confirm that he would be leaving the Patriots after spending the last two decades with him.

The 42 year old also confirmed that this was not the end of his NFL career but he would be signing with another NFL franchise shortly.

However, he gave no indication in his post as to which NFL franchise he would be signing with.

Brady paid tribute to the Patriots for backing him and sticking with him throughout his career so far. He helped the Patriots win six Super Bowls during this period and has claimed four MVP Super Bowl awards. His illustrious career also includes NFL season MVP awards on three different occasions (20007, 2010 and 2017).

Tom Brady is arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history and has nothing left to prove. However, Brady is determined to keep going with no plans of retirement in sight.

Buccaneers Shell Out $30M For Brady

There were talks earlier this month that Brady would opt to be a free agent after talks between him and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick did not go as per plan. There were a number of NFL franchises eager to secure the services of Brady.

The top two NFL franchises in the running were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers were at a disadvantage as Brady had stated that he was keen on staying on the East Coast due to his family commitments. The Buccaneers had the edge and they wasted no time in working out a deal that will cost them $30 million a year for Brady’s services.

Tom Brady will turn 43 in August and knows that he probably has a couple of years left at best. He will want to make those years count for the Buccaneers and for that to happen he will have to work well with head coach Bruce Arians and the rest of the team!
