  • MSU suspends head coach Mel Tucker over sexual harassment claims
  • Tucker is alleged to have sexually harassed a sexual assault awareness speaker
  • Tucker expresses concerns that MSU hearing will be nothing but a sham

Michigan State University (MSU) is in the news again for another alleged sexual assault incident this time involving head coach Mel Tucker. MSU took a lot of flak a few years ago when its connections to disgraced sports physician Larry Nassar was exposed.

Nassar who worked for USA Gymnastics was later convicted for sexually abusing young women who were under his care and is currently serving time in prison.

Mel Tucker Allegedly Harassed Sexual Assault Speaker

Mel Tucker signed a 10 year contract valued at $9.5 million with MSU in 2021. Tucker was accused by sexual assault awareness speaker Brenda Tracy of sexually harassing her and masturbating on a phone call with her. As a result, MSU have suspended Tucker without pay and will soon hold a hearing into the matter.

Tucker through his legal team has denied all allegations and claimed that he and Tracy had an adult and consensual relationship that she has now turned on him.

In a statement, Tucker said

While I am saddened by Ms. Tracy’s disclosure of the sensitive nature of this call, let me be perfectly clear — it was an entirely mutual, private event between two adults living at the opposite ends of the country. She initiated the discussion that night, sent me a provocative picture of the two of us together, suggested what she may look like without clothes, and never once during the 36 minutes did she object in any manner, much less hang up the phone.

Tucker Worried MSU Hearing Will Be A Sham

Tracy replied to Tucker’s claims on social media and claimed it was typical DARVO behaviour which stands for deny, attack and reverse victim and offender.

Tracy used X to say

This is just more of the same DARVO, deflection, victim blaming and lies that I’ve been dealing with now for months. Coach Tucker has been delaying and trying to stop the investigative process since the beginning. He can’t afford to go to a hearing that determines credibility of the participating parties. I believe this statement is his way of getting out of participating in the hearing. October 5th and 6th I will be present for the hearing and make myself available for cross examination by his attorney Jennifer Belveal. I invite him to do the same

Tucker says due to MSU’s ties to Nassar and the fact that its policy on sexual harassment was designed for students and employees, he feels he will not get a fair hearing in the US.
