  • British Grand Prix set to take place on July 03
  • Defending champ Lewis Hamilton may not take place
  • Hamilton could get banned for refusing to remove his nose stud

The British Grand Prix is set to take place once again at Silverstone where the best Formula One drivers in the world compete for 52 laps to see who will become the 2022 British Grand Prix champ.

The 2021 British Grand Prix championship was won by Brit Lewis Hamilton who is the greatest British F1 driver in history till date.

Hamilton is F1 royalty with 7 F1 Championships to his name tied alongside legend Michael Schumacher. British fans are excited to see him race at Silverstone and see if he can defend his title. The 37 year old Brit is also excited to race on home turn but it appears that he may not get the opportunity to do so on Sunday.

This is because Hamilton and F1 brass have been involved in a petty ‘cannot wear jewellery’ policy issue. F1 wanted Hamilton to remove all his jewellery and race but Hamilton refused to do so and got an exception from F1 for a limited time which expires on June 30.

F1 are not willing to give him another extension as they want him to comply with their no jewellery policy alongside all the other F1 drivers. Formula One President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has insisted that he wants this policy to be followed and Hamilton has shown that he will not back down from wearing his nose stud in the cockpit, as he does not believe it poses any safety issues.

If Ben Sulayem and Hamilton are unable to reach a mutual agreement in the next two days, more than 120,000 fans at Silverstone are going to be disappointed and furious with Hamilton’s absence.

Nelson Piquet Apologises For Racist Slur

Former Brazilian F1 driver and commentator Nelson Piquet got into trouble recently when it came to light that he had used offensive racial slurs against Lewis Hamilton. Initially, Piquet played down his remarks and was unapologetic but he started getting a lot of flak after Hamilton took issue with his remarks and called on F1 to take action.

Piquet has since issued an apology and said that his remarks were misconstrued due to an incorrect translation.
