Rugby Australia has gone through its fair share of challenges and criticism in the last 2 years. The players have also been under pressure after their poor performance in the 2019 Rugby World Cup and were keen on putting in a good performance in the Bledisloe Cup.
The Bledisloe Cup is a fiercely contested test match series between Australia and New Zealand. The four match test series was postponed to October and November 2020 due to COVID-19. Australia did well in the first game and managed to hold the All Blacks to a draw.
Australian fans expected their team to be brimming with confidence on Sunday night when they played the second test at the famed Eden Gardens venue. The All Blacks made multiple changes to their starting line-up after they were criticized by their fans for not being able to win the first test.
Australia was under the pump as they were playing at Eden Gardens where they have been winless for the last 34 years. The All Blacks have not lost to any team at Eden Gardens for the last 26 years and were determined to get their better of the Wallabies. The first half was a close contest between the two sides and the scoreline ended 10-7 in favour of the All Blacks.

The second half turned out to be a one sided affair as some of the new All Black players put in a fantastic performance and the player that stood out was the 21 year old Caleb Clarke. He was outstanding and drew comparison to the legendary Jonah Lomu – which is high praise for the youngster.
In the end, the combination of young blood, the Barrett brothers and the experience of Aaron Smith and TJ Perenara proved to be too much for the Wallabies. The final score was 27-7 which was largely a one sided contest, especially in the second half.
Wallabies Need To Show More Fight
The Wallabies have received a lashing on social media for their poor performance and lack of heart. They will have a couple of weeks to recover and regroup as the final two tests will be played in Australia.
The third test will take place on October 31 at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney and the fourth and final test will take place in Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Australia will have to win both test matches if they want to take home the Bledisloe Cup.
