England ended up losing the UEFA 2020 final to Italy on penalties and was heartbroken. England continues to pay for the UEFA 2020 final as Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has issued a £84,560 fine on the Football Association (FA).
UEFA imposed a £84,560 fine alone with a two match stadium ban for English fans due to the unruly behaviour English fans displayed during the UEFA 2020 final. England will have to play their next game behind closed doors as fans will not be permitted into the stadium due to the ban.
The second match ban is suspended for 2 years. England’s next game at home will be in June 2022 during the UEFA Nations League, as the ban only applies to UEFA competitions and not FIFA .

UEFA said the lack of discipline and fan control during the UEFA 2020 finals was evident in and around the stadium. English fans threw objects onto the ground, invaded the stadium and caused disturbances when the national anthems were playing.
Defender Harry Maguire shared how scary things got as many of these unruly fans occupied the reserved seats for family and friends of the English squad. Alan Maguire who is Harry’s father suffered as he was caught in a stampede and ended up breaking two ribs. He had problems breathing and had to be taken to the hospital.
FA Accepts Fines
FA condemned the disgraceful behaviour of English fans and the terrible scenes that were shown on TV. FA commissioned an independent investigation into the matter to ensure that such scenes are never repeated at any ground in the country. FA said that they were disappointed with the overall verdict from UEFA but accept the decision.
The authorities went on to arrest 26 individuals at Wembley stadium and 51 in total. FA said they are continuing to work with the respected authorities to ensure that everyone responsible in this incident is held accountable for what they have done.
Football Supporters’ Association’s CEO Kevin Miles said the scenes at the stadium sickened him and said it was shocking since Wembley stadium had a good track record when it came to crowd behaviour at football matches. This was a one-off incident but could not be overlooked due to the seriousness of it.
FA was also fined £25,000 in July 2021 once again due to crowd problems in the UEFA semi-final against Denmark.
