Premier League Fantasy Football Gameweek 38 top picks

Updated On May 11, 2018 by David Nugent

This weekend sees the end of the English Premier League season, which means the end of FPL for another season. Gameweek 37’s top picks once again produced mixed results, as it turned out to be a surprisingly poor double gameweek. However, we are hoping for better luck in gameweek 38. Here are your picks for gameweek 38:

Sergio Romero (Manchester United)

This may seem like a left-field choice for an FPL goalkeeper considering that Romero has failed to feature at all in the Premier League this season. However, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will rest first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea for the Red Devils final game of the season at home to Watford.

There are a few advantages to Romero. United are strong at the back especially at Old Trafford and his price tag is just £4.7million. There is also the fact that Watford has failed to score in their last seven away games in the Premier League.

Patrick van Aanholt (Crystal Palace)

The Dutch international has been playing as a wing-back in recent months for the Eagles. The switch has led to a flurry of returns for the former Chelsea star in recent weeks.

In fact, Van Aanholt has not scored four times in his last nine appearances for Roy Hodgson team in the top-flight. He has also scored in his last two games against Leicester City and Stoke. Those goals in his last two appearances have also earned him a bonus point in each game.

Palace heads into their final game of the season as favourites to record a victory over relegated West Brom at Selhurst Park. Van Aanholt at £5.2million looks like a no-brainer for any FPL team.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

Another Palace player, who has been a popular pick in our top picks series this season. The reason is that the Ivory Coast winger always seems to offer a threat to the opposition defence.

We all love a player playing out of position in FPL and Zaha has been playing up front for the Eagles in recent games. The move has proven to be an inspired one by Eagles boss Hodgson, as Zaha has now scored twice and produced one assist in his last two outings for the Eagles. Furthermore, in his last eight top-flight appearances, Zaha has scored four times and produced four assists.

He has also failed to produce points in just two of his last eight appearances for Palace. At a price of just £7million, Zaha seems like a must-have player for any FPL team on the last day of the season.

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal)

The France international has been in and out of the Arsenal team since the January arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He is not cheap either. However, Lacazette was afforded a rest last time out against Leicester, so is expected to start on the final day at Huddersfield.

At £10.3million, he is not the cheapest of FPL options. However his form is good, as he has scored four goals and produced three assists in his last three Premier League outings for the Gunners, so could prove a good differential this weekend.

Who will be the top pick for FPL gameweek 38?
