  • Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez on 13 Nov
  • Holloway open to move up to lightweight
  • Potential Fights With McGregor, Poirier and Oliveira

Former featherweight champ Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway returns to the Octagon on 13 November in the Main Event when he fights the dangerous Yair Rodriguez.

Holloway goes in as a huge betting favorite and many expect him to get a title fight with current champ Alex Volkanovski next.

Max lost his belt to Volkanovski in their first fight and many believed that Max was robbed. When Max and Volkanovski fought the second time, Max looked fantastic and it went down to the judges yet again and Volkanovski retained his title.

UFC Offers Holloway Options

Max has a massive fan base and the majority of them still believe he is the unofficial featherweight champ and are keen to see Holloway vs. Volkanovski 3. However, Max isn’t looking past Rodriguez and first wants to get past him on Saturday night. If he does win, the Hawaiian isn’t dead set on a third fight with Volkanovski.

He told media recently that the UFC had offered him a number of big fights but did not give out specifics as to which fights the UFC had given him. The Blessed said while the title fight at 145 lbs is definitely an option, there is also the option of him moving up to 155 and taking on some big names including current UFC lightweight champ Charles Oliveira whom Max has a win over.

Max has had one fight at 155 in the past when he fought Dustin Poirier, put on a great show but ended up losing. Max looked small for the weightclass but he isn’t going to let that stop him as he is keen on fighting Oliveira for the UFC lightweight belt or getting his rematch with Poirier.

Oliveira and Poirier will clash at UFC 269 on 11 Dec when Oliveira will defend his belt against Poirier. Holloway could end up fighting the winner which will not go down well with Justin Gaethje as he believes he is next in line for the title shot.

Rematch With McGregor Open

Max fought Conor McGregor at 145 in 2013 and lost by unanimous decision. That’s another rematch he is looking forward to and he believes the UFC might make that fight to welcome Conor McGregor back to the Octagon in 2022.

If Max wins on Saturday night against Rodriguez, we will have to wait and see if he calls out anyone specific for his next fight!
