Californians are getting ready for a significant new casino coming their way this fall, and it’s not just any venue.

Hard Rock International’s $600 million Hard Rock Casino Tejon in Kern County is already drawing comparisons to Las Vegas.

The casino will open nearly a month earlier than planned, on November 13, approximately 15 miles south of Bakersfield, on land owned by the Tejon Indian Tribe.

The Indian tribe’s chairman, Octavio Escobedo III, commented on the “historic moment” for them and “the entire Kern County community” during an announcement on October 2.

He went on to say that the grand opening will both celebrate their “heritage and resilience” and, at the same time, mark a “bold step forward in creating opportunity and prosperity” for the generations to come.

Over 2,000 Slot Machines and 50 Live Tables

The 150,000-square-foot gaming floor will feature more than 2,000 slot machines, along with 50 live table games, providing endless hours of entertainment. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy fun nightlife options, several restaurants, and other entertainment spaces that the Hard Rock brand is renowned for.

According to officials, the project will bring thousands of jobs to the area, both in construction and long-term operations, covering everything from food and beverages (management, culinary, stewards, cocktail server, hostess), support services (finance, marketing, IT, accounting, purchasing), guest services (VIP services, player development), and gaming OPS (slot, table and cash operations).

Chris Kelley, president of Hard Rock Casino Tejon, called it “an honor to lead this incredible project” as they are preparing to usher in their first guests in mid-November.

Hard Rock Casino Tejon will combine the energy, flavor, and excitement that our brand is known for with a uniquely local spirit that reflects the strength and heritage of the Tejon Indian Tribe. We look forward to creating unforgettable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors.

The venue has been in the works for years, and its early opening date and massive scale have the potential to quickly turn it into one of California’s top gaming and entertainment destinations, and a viable alternative to traveling to Las Vegas.
