  • McGregor will need to complete 6 months of testing before he can fight in the UFC
  • Michael Chandler willing to patiently wait for McGregor fight

UFC superstar Conor McGregor who last fought in the UFC in July 2021 has teased fans about a potential return with an interesting message on the Instagram.

McGregor hasn’t been allowed to return to the UFC because he took himself out of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after suffering a terrible leg injury in his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 which he lost.

McGregor Claims To Have Entered USADA Pool

There were talks earlier this year that McGregor could return to the UFC in Dec 2023 but those rumours were soon squashed once it became clear that McGregor was not part of the USADA testing pool. UFC athletes are required to go through a min 6 month testing program before being eligible to fight in the Octagon.

There can be an exception to the rule and it initially appeared that McGregor was pushing to get an exception and fight Michael Chandler on his return. However, that exception wasn’t given to McGregor who was told he will have to complete the mandatory 6 month testing period.

In a post on Instagram, McGregor said

Find my targets. Hit them. Fuck the consequences. You’re going down. This is fighting. Sparring day with slick @grozdevnikolay. Always a banger of a spar with the slick fella. Submitted my stuff to Novitzky. Ball rolling ⚽️ see you soon you little light work bitch

Jeff Novitzky is the current Senior Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance for the UFC who works closely with USADA. If McGregor submitted his details in October, then he is likely to return to the UFC after March which many feel could be in time for UFC 300!

Chandler Happy To Patiently Wait For McGregor

McGregor and Michael Chandler coached the Ultimate Fighter and should have fought after this year but due to McGregor not being in the USADA pool, the fight was put on hold. Chandler last fought at UFC 281 when he lost by submission to Dustin Poirier.

Chandler who is usually a pretty active fighter but has decided to sit and wait patiently for the McGregor fight.
