One of North Las Vegas‘ most popular casino properties is getting ready to usher in patrons once more, this time under a new name and dressed in new clothing.

50-Year-Old Casino, Coming Back to Life

Namely, the former Poker Palace will reopen later this month (July) as Club Fortune North at the end of a lengthy renovation project that has changed the nearly half-a-century-old casino into a modern-day gaming destination.

Reno-based Truckee Gaming has confirmed that the property’s soft opening will be held on July 19, followed by its official grand opening on July 22.

The company purchased the casino for $20 million in October 2025 before closing it for what ultimately became a far more ambitious renovation than originally planned.

Truckee Gaming’s Chief Executive Officer, Ferenc Szony, explained that the project evolved into an almost complete reconstruction of the property.

The renovation ended up being almost a complete redo“, Szony said in previous comments, adding that the expanded scope created a casino with a contemporary look that is dramatically different from the original Poker Palace.

Upgraded Gaming Options, Bigger Dining Venues, Full Building Makeover

Located on Las Vegas Boulevard North near Nellis Air Force Base, Poker Palace first opened its doors in 1974 and became a familiar destination for local residents over the decades.

The redesigned Club Fortune North will feature new slot machines and upgraded gaming systems, a newly designed bar, larger restaurant and kitchen facilities, renovated restrooms and a complete overhaul of both the interior and exterior of the building.

Unlike many Las Vegas casinos, the property will not include table games or a poker room. Instead, guests will find a race and sportsbook operated by Boomer’s Sportsbook, alongside its slot gaming and food and beverage offerings.

Truckee Gaming also operates several casinos in northern Nevada as well as the original Club Fortune in Henderson.

The reopening represents the latest investment in North Las Vegas’ gaming sector, bringing a historic casino back into operation after months of redevelopment.
