Tyson Fury and Francis NgannouSummary

  • Tyson Fury will fight Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on Oct 28
  • Ngannou is a former UFC heavyweight champ but has no boxing experience
  • Will hardcore boxing fans be willing to pay money for this PPV?

WBC heavyweight champ Tyson “the Gypsy King’ Fury was looking to fight WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk in the UK or Saudi Arabia before the end of the year but those talks fell through.

Tyson Fury’s camp has now confirmed that Fury will fight former UFC heavyweight boxing champ Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on Oct 28. The two fighters had earlier spoken about a potential boxing match on social media, so this fight announcement did not come as a major surprise.

Will Hardcore Boxing Fans Pay Money For PPV?

The big question is whether hardcore boxing fans will spend their money to buy this pay per view as Francis Ngannou is not a professional boxer whereas Tyson Fury is considered by many to be the best heavyweight boxer in the world right now.

Reports suggest that this fight between the Gypsy King and the Predator Ngannou will take place as a normal professional boxing match which is completely in favour of Tyson Fury. While Ngannou has shown in his MMA career that he has devastating knockout power, it is clear that Ngannou is not a professional boxer and does not have high level boxing skills to beat someone like Fury!

Ngannou’s best and only chance to beat Fury is going to be to land a big haymaker and see if he can put the Gypsy King to sleep! Ngannou who is all muscle has shown in the past that he gets gassed pretty quickly and this is another reason why this could be a very one-sided fight!

There will be questions raised as to whether Fury will look to carry this fight by going easy on Ngannou during the first few rounds just to make the fight competitive and to give fight fans their money’s worth!

Ngannou Will Make Boxing Debut Against Fury

To show you how one sided this fight is, Francis Ngannou is set to make his boxing debut against Fury! Ngannou’s rep Marquel Martin said they plan to talk with the WBC to see if they can get Fury to put his WBC belt on the line and put Fury’s boxing record on the line! All boxing fans had been expecting ‘a game changer’ opponent after promoter Frank Warren hinted at something special, many will feel its been huge let down.
