Resorts World Las Vegas $4.3bn Resort Set To Open Doors In June

Updated On Apr 28, 2021 by Cameron Bishop

Resorts World Las VegasMalaysia’s Genting Group has invested $4.3 billion in its Resorts World Las Vegas casino resort which is being developed at the former location of the Stardust Resort and Casino which opened its doors in 1955.

This massive casino resort is expected to finally open its doors to the public on June 24, 2021.

When the Genting Group initially released plans for the project, Resorts World Las Vegas was expected to be a market shifter in Nevada.

The developer had plans to add a number of unique attractions which included a replica of the Great Wall of China and a Panda exhibit.

However, a number of those fancy attractions have since been dropped. The new casino resort will feature a gaming floor that covers 117,000 square feet, over 250,000 square feet for conventions and meetings, 3,500 hotel rooms and a combination of 40 restaurants and bars.

The Malaysian purchased the site location in 2013 for $350 million and had plans of opening its Resorts World Las Vegas casino by 2016. However, things have been delayed for a number of reasons which include major changes to the initial design, the elimination of non-gaming projects and the delay with COVID-19.

The Genting Group is currently using only two thirds of the 87 acres it purchased and will save the remaining one third for future development. Resorts World Las Vegas is making plans for a grand opening and is running an advertising campaign that features top musicians such as Katy Perry and Celine Dion.

Vegas Casinos Can Have 80% Capacity From May 1

Las Vegas casinos have suffered significant losses due to the COVID-19 lockdown and this in turn has hurt the economy of Nevada. While casinos have since opened they are operating at a limited capacity due to the restrictions imposed by the state.

This may not be the best time for a new casino resort to launch considering the state of the market but given the fact that Resorts World Las Vegas has been on the backburner for so long, the Genting Group is eager to open out this multi-billion dollar resort to the public.

The good news for Resorts World Las Vegas is that the Nevada Gaming Control Board has announced that casino in Clark County will now be able to accept guests at 80 percent capacity from May 1.
