Saudi Arabia Pushing For Mega Heavyweight Card
Talks for a heavyweight showdown between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk have a hit a road block. Fury’s camp were pushing for the fight to take place in April in the United Kingdom but that did not happen as the two camps could not come to an agreement.
It now looks like Fury vs. Usyk could go down in Saudi Arabia towards the end of the year. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has hosted some big heavyweight fight cards in recent years and is now pushing to host the biggest heavyweight fight card in recent history as there are talks for former WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua to fight former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, who failed previously arrange a bout whilst they were still at the top.
Eddie Hearn who manages Anthony Joshua told IFL TV
For AJ his big fight, and it will come in the Middle East, will be in December. That will be Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. There have been conversations with people who would like to host Fury vs Usyk and Joshua vs Wilder on the same night. It’s going to cost a lot of money, but would be epic!
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Saudi Arabia could pay out upwards of £300 million for mega fight card.
