The NBA-All Star Game is one of the most popular games that takes place each season as the best players in the league join forces as the Western And Eastern Conference teams face each other in a mouth-watering clash.
The NBA has confirmed the captains for the All-Star Game along with the starting lineups for the All Star Game which takes place on Feb 18 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The NBA All Star vote was determined by a weightage system where 50 percent of the vote was given to the fans selection, 25 percent was determined by a vote from a media panel and current NBA players.
The two captains were chosen based on the most amount of votes received in each conference. They will have the chance to pick from the first set of 8 players during the NBA All Star Draft which takes place on Feb 8.
Western Conference
LeBron James
The Western Conference team looks fantastic with LeBron James being selected as the captain for a second year. His team members include some of the very best in the game with Kevin Durant and Paul George providing him company up front. The guards as of now includes Stephen Curry and James Harden.
Eastern Conference
Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Eastern Conference will be led by Giannis Antetokounmpo who topped the votes. His guards include Kemba Walker and Kyrie Irving while giving him company on the frontcourt will be Kawhi Leonard and Joel Embiid.
NBA All Star Draft
This is the second time that the NBA All Star Draft will take place and will be televised so that fans can see how the teams are picked. LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will first get to pick from the pool of 8 players and then get a crack at another 14 All Star players. The second set of 14 All Star players will be released on Feb 1.
Making the list of All Stars is a dream for many players as it gives them an opportunity to play against the best and also add value to their personal brand. One player who will be a bit nervous about the All Star Draft is rookie Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks.
Doncic had the second most votes in the Western Conference a week ago but wasn’t selected in the first draft. If the 19 year old makes the second cut of 14 players, he would create history by becoming the youngest player in Mavericks history to be selected as an All-Star.
