The San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers will continue their series with game two on Tuesday night. San Francisco got the better of their rival in game one of the series, coming away with a 4-2 win. The Dodgers are supposed to be the favourites to win the National League this season, but you can always expect the San Francisco Giants to play them tough.
San Francisco went just 1-3 against the San Diego Padres in their season opening series, and their offense has been invisible for the most part. The Giants are a veteran team, but they can’t afford to fall too far back in the standings. Los Angeles took three out of four games from the Arizona Diamondbacks in their first series, but looked flat in their loss on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are -178 in this matchup against the San Francisco Giants.
Dodgers Offense Belting Homers
The Los Angeles Dodgers set a new Major League record on Opening Day when they belted eight home runs as a team. The home run barrage hasn’t stopped for the Dodgers and they currently lead all of baseball with 16 home runs through their first five games. Cody Bellinger has been the star so far for Los Angeles, belting four home runs and sporting a .458 batting average. The Dodgers should be one of the best offensive teams throughout the season.
Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu will be on the mound for the Dodgers in game two of the series. Ryu has been a reliable member of the Dodgers rotation for the last few seasons, but LA is hoping that he can be even better this season. The South Korean pitcher got the win on opening day when he went six innings and allowed just four hits and one earned run.
Bumgarner On Mound For Giants
San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner will take the ball and oppose Ryu in this game. Bumgarner took the ball for the Giants on Opening Day and took the loss despite pitching pretty well. The veteran left-hander went seven innings, and gave up just five hits and two earned runs. He has had some great success against the Dodgers in his career, and will look to cool down that red-hot offense.
The Giants don’t have a great offensive lineup this season, and they have hit just two home runs as a team. San Francisco has scored just nine runs through their first five games, even though they managed to score four of them on Monday night. Evan Longoria leads the team with a .267 batting average, and Brandon Belt leads the team with three runs batted in. San Francisco is going to have to grind out low-scoring games all season long.
Dodgers Get Even in Series
Even though the Giants were able to keep the Dodgers offense relatively quiet in the series opener, don’t expect that to happen again. Los Angeles faces a tough pitcher in Bumgarner, but their offense is just too good to be held down again. Look for the Dodgers to blast a few home runs and get even in this series with a win. Bet the Los Angeles Dodgers -178 over the San Francisco Giants.
