Australia Come Together To Support The Matildas

Australia took on France in the quarter-finals last week and it turned out to be arguably the most exciting game of football in the history of women’s football. The two sides tied 0-0 at full time, they went into extra time and still tied at 0-0 before going into a nerve wracking penalty shootout.

The penalty shootout brought the nation of Australia together as they stood as one both in the stadium and in live streaming venues around the country to see a 10 goal penalty shootout that went back and forth with both teams. The Matildas ended up beating France in the end to book themselves a spot in their first ever World Cup semi-final game.

Australia will have massive fan support when they take on England on Aug 16. There is already a push to see if NSW Premier will declare a state holiday if the Matildas make it to the final’s and win the World Cup.

While those maybe premature discussions, one thing you cannot deny is that the way the Matildas have played in the world cup has been unbelievable.
