Dana White Opens Talks For Potential GSP vs. Khabib Fight At 165 lbs

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-PierreHardcore MMA fight fans have heard the many rumours of a mega fight between former UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre (GSP).

This mega fight never took place and MMA fans had given up on the idea of seeing two of the greatest MMA fighters in the world test their skills against one another.

MMA fans shouldn’t dismiss the new rumours floating around as UF President Dana White has opened talks for the two fighters to compete at 165 lbs. White who has a close relationship with Ali Abdelaziz, the manager for Khabib Nurmagomedov has approached him with a potential offer to fight GSP.

If White has spoken to Ali Abdelaziz about a GSP fight, it suggests that White has already been in contact with GSP and discussed a potential fight. This makes sense as GSP recently said that he had got in touch with the UFC to get permission to box Oscar De La Hoya but Dana White did not give him the approval.

GSP is still under contract to the UFC and has admitted in the past that he will come out of retirement if he finds a fight that excites him. He has made it clear in the past that a fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov will bring him out of retirement but he wanted the fight to be in his weight category 170lbs.

White does not like Oscar De La Hoya as they have gone at each other on social media many times before. With White denying GSP the right to fight De La Hoya, he could have definitely pushed the Khabib fight with GSP.

Khabib Says No $100M Fight To Box Mayweather

Khabib Nurmagomedov has made it clear that he does not want to fight again based on the promise he made to his mother. Reports suggest that he just turned down a $100 million fight to box Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather who will be in action againt Logan Paul on 6th June.

The Dagestani champ has said on many occasions that he does not fight for money, he fights for legacy. His late father who was also his coach said in the past that the fight that he would have loved to see was his son against GSP.

Will Khabib be willing to come out of retirement to fight GSP and will he be willing to fight him at 165 lbs? We should know in a couple of weeks if this is just another rumour or if this is a mega fight in the making.
