Treylon Burks makes one-handed touchdown against the Denver Broncos during the 2025 NFL SeasonSummary:

  • Treylon Burks made a spectacular one-handed touchdown grab in the Washington Commanders’ overtime loss to Denver Broncos.
  • The catch drew comparisons to Odell Beckham Jr.’s iconic 2014 grab — and even got a nod from Beckham online.
  • After injuries and a slow season, coaches say Burks’ work ethic is finally starting to show on the field.

Treylon Burks gave the Washington Commanders fans something to cheer about on Sunday night, even if the NFL game didn’t end the way they hoped.

In the Commanders’ 27–26 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos, Burks pulled off one of the most impressive catches we’ve seen all season. It was a twisting, falling, one-handed grab in the back corner of the end zone that immediately set social media buzzing.

Beckham on Social Media: “13 13”

The play came early in the second half. Facing third-and-goal from the Denver 5, Marcus Mariota lined up in the shotgun and took a quick snap. Burks sprinted toward the corner on a fade route, tightly shadowed by cornerback Riley Moss.

With almost no room to work with, Burks turned mid-stride, jumped, and reached out with his right hand. Somehow, he pulled the ball in as he hit the ground, securing his second career touchdown and his first since 2022.

Only one hand necessary 😌

The moment drew instant praise from NBC’s Cris Collinsworth, who didn’t hesitate to compare it to Odell Beckham Jr.’s unforgettable one-handed catch in 2014. The visual parallels were hard to miss, with the same body twist, same outstretched single hand, even the same jersey number. Burks wears No. 13, just like Beckham did with the Giants.

Beckham himself noticed, posting “13 13” on social media not long after.

Burks: “It Was Just Making a Play for the Team”

Burks, however, didn’t seem to care much for the attention.

To me, it was just making a play for the team, honestly. I’m not the type that will sit there and scroll on the internet. I kind of stay away from that.

His modest reaction fits the moment he’s in right now. Burks is trying to rebuild his career after a rough stretch that included injuries, inconsistent production, and a recent finger surgery on the same right hand he used to make the catch. The Commanders brought him in knowing it would take time, especially since he was still working his way back from an ACL tear.

He arrived in Week 13 with only four catches for 72 yards this season. But the coaches believed there was more to unlock.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said

We knew he wasn’t there yet. We said, ‘We’re not going to miss a step with you, man. We’re going to develop you.’ Then you see him in there at 6 a.m. and wanting to learn. This is a guy who wanted to prove it, who wanted to show it, and I thought, ‘We’re going to give him the space to do that.’ I think there’s a lot there, and I’m really excited he’s here.

Even in a tough loss, Burks may have given Washington a glimpse of what he can still become during the football season.
