  • Negotiations for the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight are underway
  • Fury needs to accept 50/50 purse for Usyk fight to take place in April
  • Frank Warren denies talks of Fury vs. Wilder 4 fight talks

Boxing bettors and fans have been looking forward to seeing the WBC heavyweight champ Tyson Fury fight WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk.

The two boxers squared off in the ring after Fury’s last fight when he beat Derek Chisora in December.

50/50 Purse Agreement

Fury and Usyk have taken shots at each other via social media in the last few weeks but no bout agreement has been signed till date. Both camps have opened negotiations to sign a fight contract and get a fight done in April 2023 but so far the two camps have not been able to agree on the terms and conditions.

Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk did not give away much details about how negotiations were going between the two camps but said he was pushing Fury to sign a 50/50 purse split as he wanted Usyk to have a fair deal.

In boxing, the A-side generally looks to walk away with a higher percentage of the purse and Fury is the A-side as the Brit has a much bigger fan base than Usyk. However, Krassyuk has argued that the fight contract will be for the unification of the heavyweight championships and Usyk has three belts when compared to Fury who has just one.

Krassyuk said that if Fury accepts the 50/50 purse they will push forward to get the fight done for April 29 or latest May. There were initially talks that the fight could be held in Saudi Arabia but it looks like it will most likely take place in Wembley Stadium.

Warren Denies Talks Of Fury vs. Wilder 4

There were also rumours circulating that a fourth fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder might be on the cards. Sometimes these rumours are calculated in order to put pressure on the B-side to get them to sign quickly over the fear that the fight could slip away and go to someone like Wilder.

However, Fury’s promote Frank Warren has denied these rumours and said there were no talks about a 4th fight with Fury. Warren who was confident of a fight said they were very, very close to coming to an agreement with Usky’s camp.
