NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs 2019: Blues vs. Stars, Game 7 Preview

Updated On May 7, 2019 by Ryan Knuppel

St. Louis Blues vs. Dallas StarsIn what has been a highly competitive playoff series thus far, the St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars are meeting for the final game of the season for one team.

Tuesday night is for all of the marbles as a game seven is upon us. This series has been great so far with each game being anyone’s contest late into the game. The series is shifting back to St. Louis and the Blues hold a big advantage because of it.

The Blues won game one, three, and six while the Stars won game two, four, and five. In the series the Blues have scored 16 goals while the Stars have found the net 16 times as well. This is going to be an exciting finish for one of these teams while the other is relegated to their couch for the remainder of the season.

The Blues are favoured by 1.5 goals and the over / under is set at five goals.

Blues Try to Win Series at Home

After dropping back to back contests to fall in the hole 3-2, the Blues got a very crucial win last game out by beating the Stars 4-1 on the road. The Blues scored two times within a 33-second span in the third period of the game allowing them to take a big win in the series.

Interestingly, the Blues are 1-4 in their last five home games against the Stars. They are 13-7 against the Stars going back to the regular season.

After clutching a great win in game six many might think that the momentum will rub off. With the Blues, that won’t be the case as they are built for the big moment

Stars Have to Win on the Road

The Stars come to St. Louis a little shocked and rightfully so. The Stars got upended on their home ice and a lot of people thought that they were going to be able to take home the series in that game.

Now, they must try to do it on the road. Ben Bishop was pulled out of the goal after the Blues scored two quick goals against him. The Stars were also concerned with a possible injury after Colton Parayko knocked him down on the third goal of the game.

With that in the back of his mind, it is safe to wonder about how the Stars might respond. Bishop is expected to be back in the goal to start, but if things start getting dicey don’t be surprised if he gets pulled again.

Who Will Move On

We expect a really good hockey game tonight at the Enterprise Center. This has been a great series, and the winner will get an extra day off before they take on the winner of the San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche. The Blues have the upper hand because of many different reasons. The Blues are at home and they have the better defense.

The Stars are reeling after a game six defeat and their goalie situation might have played a few mind tricks on the team. Look for the Blues to come out swinging early and take the win. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a low scoring affair though.

Take the Blues and the under tonight.
