The International Cricket Council (ICC) has come out with a list of 8 T20 and ODI combined World Cup events from 2024 to 2030.

The ICC has listed the host nations for these white-ball tournaments in order to give host nations enough time to prepare accordingly.

Some of the countries listed as hosts will come as a surprise to a lot of cricket fans.

T20 and ODI World Cup – Surprise Hosts

The ICC has confirmed that the West Indies and the United States will host the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 2026 T20 World Cup will take place in India and Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand will play hosts to the 2028 T20 World Cup and England, Ireland and Scotland will host the 2030 T20 World Cup.

The big surprise is to see the United States share hosting duties with the West Indies for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The ICC is looking to boost the popularity of cricket in the United States and giving the United States shared responsibility of the 2024 T20 World Cup is one way to get more Americans take interest in the game of cricket.

The ICC has tried to allocate a few T20 games each year to take place in the United States and has built up a steady fan base. We will have to wait and see how many T20 World Cup games the United States gets to host in 2024.

The 50 over ODI World Cup will take place in 2027 and will be hosted by South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. The 2031 ODI World Cup will take place in India and Bangladesh.

Pakistan To Host 2025 Champions Trophy

What will surprise many fans is the decision by the ICC to allow Pakistan to host the 2025 Champions Trophy. Pakistan are the current defending champions and the ICC decided that to give Pakistan the opportunity to defend their trophy in their backyard.

Ramiz Raja, chairman for the Pakistan Cricket Board was very happy with the ICC’s decision and said the ICC has expressed faith in Pakistan’s ability to host and manage a major ICC event.

Given the political tensions between India and Pakistan, it will be interesting to see if the Indian team travels to Pakistan to play the 2025 Champions Trophy.
