Davis Decides To Step Away During Training Camp
The Jets are currently in the middle of their training camp, preparing for the upcoming season. Davis decided to take a break from training during the last few days due to personal reasons and took to Instagram to let his 78,000 fans know that he had decided to step away from the NFL.
In his Instagram post, Davis wrote
For some time now I’ve been contemplating stepping away from the sport of football. This decision has not been easy. Although I am a deep person, I am a man of few words. I’ve been searching my heart for what to do, and I feel that stepping away from the game is the best path for me at this time.
Davis was on a 3 year contract with the Jets for an estimated $37.5 million and was set to collect $10.5 million as he served out his final year on the contract. While Davis did not use the word retirement in his Instagram post, it did sound like a final goodbye.
