  • U.S Soccer revoke coaching license of Evans
  • Evans has not admitted to anything but confirms he is in counseling

Former Toledo head coach Brad Evans is in trouble after U.S Soccer revoked his coaching license due to a bevy of sexual misconduct allegations against him reported by a leading daily.

Evans was employed at several organizations in Ohio, including the Ohio Soccer Association and the US Youth Soccer’s Olympic Development Program.

Besides suspending his license, U.S Soccer has blocked Evans from using its learning center. The federation has also suspended Evans from all the courses and study groups. US Soccer has also notified the Ohio Soccer Association and non-profit organization SafeSport about Evans and his exploits.

Evans had earlier resigned from the position of the head coach at Toledo in 2015, after former player Candice Fabry alleged he had sexually assaulted her. Fabry, a former player on the women’s soccer team at the University of Toledo, told administrator Kelly Andrews in 2015, about the abuse she faced eight years ago. Nine days after Fabry’s complaint, Evans resigned from his post. He had served as the head coach for 13 years.

Fabry recalled the incident from 2007 when she accepted an invitation from Evans to join Toledo as an unpaid volunteer assistant coach. Evans, his wife, Jennifer Whipple, and another staff member were also present at the restaurant where Fabry was planning to announce that she had accepted the offer. According to Fabry, Evans had aggressively molested her in the restaurant’s washroom.

Besides Fabry, six former staff members at Toledo have come up with their first-hand accounts of Evans’ misbehavior. The staff reported that Evans made unwanted advances toward them. The members had to engage him as they feared losing their jobs. Some of them gave in as they were exhausted from denying Evans repeatedly. One of the staff members mentioned that Evans regularly made misogynistic and lewd comments about the players.

Toledo VP Explains Lack of Action Against Evans

Toledo vice president of marketing and communications Adrienne King said that Evans did not face disciplinary action despite violating the university policy as he had resigned before the investigation concluded in March 2015. Evans had resigned from his post in February.

Responding to the leading daily that published the report, Evans apologized for his poor behavior that violated the university’s standard of conduct. The former coach mentioned that he was focused on becoming a better person and was undergoing counseling. However, he did not address any queries about the six women who accused him of sexual misbehavior.
