- Gamban allows users to block gambling sites and apps worldwide
- Svenska Spel was forced to rename its trotting product after losing a legal dispute vs. ATG
Swedish gambling operator Svenska Spel has joined forces with online gambling blocking service Gamban to help those experiencing gambling problems.
Under the partnership, customers who want to stop gambling will be offered a free Gamban license which will allow them to self-exclude from online gambling sites and apps.
Free Gamban License for People Wanting to Quit Gambling
The new partnership with Gamban marks Svenska Spel’s latest initiative to combat gambling addiction as it continues its commitment to ensuring that customers play in a fun, safe, and healthy way. The state-run operator believes that the only way to effectively deal with gambling problems is to quit gambling. Gamban can help in this aspect by making sure affected players are prevented from accessing gambling content.
Daniel Harre, Responsible Gambling Specialist at Svenska Spel AB, said Gamban provides users with a much-needed break from online gambling, allowing them to seek help, undergo treatment, and start their recovery. Those who want to quit gambling may install the Gamban app for free and will enjoy its services and tools at no cost for up to five years.
Gamban adopts a multi-layered approach to blocking thousands of gambling sites and platforms worldwide, including those that offer sports betting, online casino, slots, online poker, table games, bingo, lotteries, NFTs, crypto, as well as trading platforms, gambling affiliates, and many more.
Gamban also allows users to monitor their progress, providing them with data on how long they’ve remained gamble-free and how much time and money they’ve saved along the way. With just one license, the Gamban app can be installed across all of the user’s devices, and they can instantly block themselves from gambling sites. Additionally, customers can benefit from tailored support resources via the app.
Welcoming their partnership with Svenska Spel, Matt Zarb-Cousin, Director of External Affairs at Gamban, said their goal is to provide market-leading blocking software to those who want to quit gambling.
Svenska Spel Loses Trademark Dispute vs. ATG
Svenska Spel has lost its trademark dispute against horse betting operator Aktiebolaget Trav och Galopp (ATG). Sweden’s Patent and Market Appeal Court ruled that Svenska Spel’s use of the phrase “Trav och Galopp” is in direct infringement of ATG’s brand name. Svenska Spel’s trotting product has now been rebranded as “Svenska Spel Hästar“.
