Premier League Fantasy Football Gameweek 34 top picks

Updated On Apr 13, 2018 by David Nugent

Gameweek 34 could be a pivotal one in FPL, as eight teams are playing two games, which gives us the opportunity to double up on points. Our gameweek 33 picks flopped like a jellyfish on a wet mattress. Things can only get better in gameweek 34: Here are our picks for gameweek 34:

Mat Ryan (Brighton)

We backed the Australian international to deliver last week, but unfortunately, gameweek 33 was a strange one. However, this week we really do expect the £4.6million rated goalkeeper to pick up points.

The Seagulls face a trip to Crystal Palace this weekend, before hosting Tottenham in midweek. While those matches do not look the best on paper for picking up clean sheets, Ryan has picked a lot of saves points this season and with two games he could be a worthy gamble for anybody looking for a value alternative to Manchester United’s David De Gea.

Chris Smalling (Manchester United)

The England centre-back has enjoyed a bit of an up and down campaign. The Red Devils have a number of decent options in the centre of their defence. However, Smalling seems to be current first choice. He should start both the Red Devils games in gameweek 34 against West Brom and Bournemouth.

United have the second-best defence in the Premier League, with only champions-elect Manchester City conceding fewer goals this season in the top-flight. He looks good for at least one clean sheet from those two outings.

However, he has also emerged as a potential threat at the other end of the pitch, scoring two goals in his last four top-flight outings. Valued at £5.5million he could prove to be a shrewd defensive investment.

Alexis Sanchez (Manchester United)

The Chilean international has made a slow start to his United career after his January arrival from Arsenal. However, in recent years he has been one of the hottest properties in FPL.

However, the attacking midfielder ownership in FPL has plummeted to an all-time low this season. In fact, he is currently owned by fewer than five percent of players.

His price tag of £11.5million may be a factor in that low ownership. The forward’s performances have been improving of late. He has now scored once and produced four assists in his last four Premier League outings.

A doubleheader of West Brom at home and Bournemouth away looks like a point’s fest. He could even be a great shout for a differential captain.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester)

The Leicester forward is another player with two games in the gameweek, as the Foxes face a trip to Burnley this weekend, before hosting relegation-threatened Southampton in midweek. Claude Puel’s side are big favourites to win the latter game.

Not only is the England striker playing twice, he is also in good form this season, as he has scored 16 times in the top-flight this season. The pacey frontman has also scored in his last three Premier League games.

At £8.9million, he has a middle of the road price tag, but he has the ability to justify that price tag with a big points haul.

Who will be the big scorer in Gameweek 34 of FPL?
