  • Rams’ receiver Demarcus Robinson was put under arrest early Monday for suspected DUI.
  • The 30-year-old was stopped for speeding over 100 mph on US-101.
  • The arrest happened hours after Robinson scored a touchdown in the Rams’ 37-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL‘s Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson (30) was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The arrest occurred in Woodland Hills, California, shortly after Robinson played in the Rams’ “Sunday Night Football” game against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he caught a touchdown pass during the 37-20 loss.

The incident took place around 5:13 a.m. when California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers observed a white Dodge sedan speeding north on US-101, reaching speeds over 100 mph.

After stopping the vehicle, the officers identified “objective signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment“, according to a statement released by the CHP-West Valley Area Office.

The Fort Valley, Georgia native, who was the driver of the vehicle, was immediately arrested and later “released to a responsible party”.

The news of his arrest was initially broken by TMZ.

Second Year with the Rams

Demarcus Robinson, currently in his second year with the Rams and ninth in the NFL, has been a significant part of the team’s offense this season.

He has accumulated 26 receptions for 384 yards and is leading the team with six touchdown catches.

Despite the controversy, Robinson has been a reliable target for quarterback Matthew Stafford, serving as a dependable third option behind standout receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

Robinson’s career in the NFL began with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he spent six seasons and was part of the team that captured the Super Bowl title in February 2020.

After a year with the Baltimore Ravens, he joined the Rams, where he’s contributed depth and experience to their receiver lineup.

The Rams, currently sitting at a 5-6 record, are preparing for a crucial matchup against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday.

As they look to stay competitive in the NFC West, this off-field incident with Robinson adds another layer of complexity to the team’s season.

Head coach Sean McVay is set to address the situation during his Tuesday press conference, providing clarity on how Robinson’s legal trouble might affect the team moving forward.

With the season at a critical juncture, the Rams are aiming to keep their NFL playoff hopes alive, making the upcoming game against the Saints all the more significant.
