  • Mbappé does not want to resign with the club when his contract expires in 2024
  • PSG could look to sell Mbappé before his contract ends

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) had some of the biggest football (soccer) stars in their squad at the start of this season but still could not get past the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. Lionel Messi has already announced his departure from PSG and so has Sergio Ramos.

The New York Times now reports that Kylian Mbappé has decided that he will also move on from PSG.

Kylian Mbappé Will Not Renew Contract

Kylian Mbappé is France’s most popular football player and expected by many to become the best player in the world once Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo retire. French news outlet L’Equipe was the first to report that Mbappé had sent a letter to PSG informing them that he would not be re-signing with the club when his contract expires in June 2024.

PSG would have loved to have their star forward stay on with the team especially now that Messi has gone. If PSG decide to let Mbappé play out his contract and then move on, they will get nothing. They might prefer to trade Mbappé at the earliest and bring in top dollar as PSG will look to get in excess of $200 million for the 24 year old.

Mbappé has been with PSG since leaving AS Monaco in 2017 and singing with PSG for $190 million. The French star has helped PSG win 5 league titles in France and has also helped France win the 2018 World Cup and led them to the final of the 2022 World Cup.

Real Madrid Will Definitely Pursue Mbappé

There are a number of top teams around the world who will be keen to sign Mbappé. One of those teams will be Real Madrid who have pursued Mbappé ever since he was 11 years old. Madrid ended up parting ways with French striker Karim Benzema earlier this month and would love to get Mbappé on board.

Florentino Pérez, President of Real Madrid had said earlier that the club was still interested in Mbappé but would not pursue him this year but that is likely to change now. Mbappé has also said in the past that he would be interested in playing at Real Madrid in the future.
