golden state warriorsBasketball fans from all over the world were salivating at the prospect of seeing the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors took on the Houston Rockets on Monday night.

NBA fans were treated to a fantastic game as both teams fought hard and put on an exhibition of great gameplay but in the end it was the Warriors who drew first blood and took a 1-0 series lead.

The Warriors have been the team to beat for the last three seasons but they showed chinks in their armour in the 2018 NBA season. The Warriors ended up losing 10 out of their last 17 games and gave other teams in the NBA a blueprint of how they can win against them.

However on Monday night, the Warriors came together as a team and showcased why they have been the team to beat for the last four seasons. The Hampton 5 as they are popularly referred to gelled well on the court and put in a stellar performance to give the Warriors a commanding 119-106 victory.

Bob Myers, GM for the Warriors admitted that he had concerns with the way the Warriors played in the regular season but decided to give his team the benefit of the doubt and they repaid his confidence.

Kevin Durant had a fantastic game for the Warriors and scored 37 points to get his team the victory. The match was pretty close for the first two quarters but in the third quarter, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Andre Iguodala raised their game to another level and helped the Warriors gain a 13 point lead going into the fourth quarter.

James Harden Needs More Support

The Rockets were unable to recover from a poor third quarter even their James Harden had a great game and finished with 41 points. However, the Rockets know that if they are going to challenge the Warriors, they need to provide Harden with more support and get some of their other players to take more responsibility.

The Rockets will want to even the series in Game 2 which takes place on Thursday while the Warriors will want to continue their dominance and go 2-0 up and put the Rockets under more pressure.

In a statement, Green said
