Michael Bidwill, who owns American Football team the Arizona Cardinals is facing serious allegations from a former executive. Terry McDonough has filed arbitration proceedings with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell alleging that Bidwill was guilty of harassment, discrimination and cheating!
McDonough Makes Serious Allegations Against Bidwill
Terry McDonough is very known within NFL circles as he has spent over 3 decades working with different NFL franchises. McDonough served as an executive for the Cardinals between 2014 to 2019 when he was the VP of Player Personnel.
McDonough’s allegations state that Michael Bidwill subjected him to harassment, discrimination and cheating during 2018 when he refused to follow his orders. McDonough states that Bidwill instructed him and ex-coach Steve Wilks to use burner phones and stay in contact with ex-General Manager Steve Keim during his 5 week suspension period.
Steve Keim was banned for 5 weeks in 2018 after he was arrested for extreme DUI. Bidwill gave McDonough a burner phone and asked him to stay in contact with Wilks during this 5 week period but McDonough refused and it infuriated Bidwill. McDonough says that Bidwill later asked him to get rid of the burner phone but he kept it with him and still has it!
McDonough alleges that because he did not heed Bidwill’s instructions, he started making life hard for him thereafter. Bidwill is alleged to have cursed McDonough, berated him and eventually demoted him! McDonough says this treatment had a significant impact on his NFL career and wants to be financially compensated!
Cardinals Deny Allegations And Release Statement
The Cardinals released a statement to address the allegations made by Terry McDonough against team owner Michael Bidwill. Jim McCarthy, external PR advisor for the Cardinals said that all of the allegations are false, wild and done only for financial gain!
In a statement, McCarthy speaking for the Cardinals said
Our position was consistent with many efforts we’ve made to accommodate Terry during his time with the team, despite difficulties in his personal life and his often volatile demeanor toward colleagues. That’s why we are saddened to see that Terry is now lashing out at our organization with disparagements and threats that are absurdly at odds with the facts
