The Chiefs Struggled

The Chiefs entered the game with a 5-0 record but struggled to establish their offense against Seattle. Mahomes finished with 165 passing yards and an interception, while Kansas City managed only 213 total yards, including 50 on the ground.

Seattle opened the scoring with a 25-yard field goal from Jason Myers early in the second quarter. The Seahawks then capitalized on a defensive interception by Ty Okada, who picked off a Mahomes pass intended for Jalen Royals.

Darnold kept the ensuing drive alive with a seven-yard scramble before finding Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 28-yard touchdown. The score gave Seattle a 10-0 lead with 1:44 remaining in the first half.

The Seahawks had another chance to extend their advantage before halftime when Darnold connected with Smith-Njigba for a 28-yard gain to reach the Kansas City one-yard line.

However, cornerback Nohl Williams intercepted Darnold in the end zone, and the Chiefs failed to score before the break.

Fourth Quarter Opportunity

Myers added a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter to make it 13-0. Kansas City finally got on the scoreboard with a 50-yard field goal from Harrison Butker after Mahomes lost a fumble on a third-down play.

The Chiefs had a chance to cut morre of the deficit during the fourth quarter, but Butker missed a 45-yard attempt wide right.
Seattle then put the game beyond reach with Wilson’s touchdown run, completing a dominant performance on both sides of the ball.

Kansas City’s rushing attack was particularly ineffective. Kenneth Walker III, who played for Seattle last season before joining the Chiefs in the offseason, finished with just 36 yards on 14 carries. The Seahawks extended their streak to 36 consecutive games without allowing a 100-yard rusher, the longest active run in the NFL.

Travis Kelce provided one notable moment for Kansas City, recording four receptions to bring his career total to 1,104 and move into fifth place in NFL history, passing Marvin Harrison and Cris Carter.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said the win should remind his players of their potential, while Chiefs coach Andy Reid accepted responsibility for his team’s performance.

Kansas City will visit the Denver Broncos next Sunday, while Seattle will host the Chicago Bears on Monday, November 2.
