Angel ReeseSummary:

  • Angel Reese pulled down 26 rebounds, surpassing Chamique Holdsclaw’s previous single-game record of 24 set in 2003.
  • Reese now has 458 rebounds in 37 games, seven more than A’ja Wilson’s previous single-season record of 451.
  • The 24-year-old also recorded her 27th double-double of 2026 and is averaging a league-leading 12.4 rebounds per game.

Angel Reese made WNBA history twice in the same game Monday, setting the league’s single-game rebounding record while also breaking the single-season mark in the Atlanta Dream’s 78-71 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks.

Reese grabbed 26 rebounds, surpassing Chamique Holdsclaw’s previous WNBA record of 24, set for the Washington Mystics in 2003. She also scored 11 points, giving her a league-leading 27th double-double of the season.

The record-breaking performance capped an impressive West Coast trip for Atlanta. The Dream finished the trip with a perfect 4-0 record, improving to 25-13 with six regular-season games remaining. The victory also completed a season sweep of the Sparks.

Reese broke the single-season rebounding record earlier in the game. She finished with 458 rebounds, moving seven ahead of the previous mark set by Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson in 2024.

The 24-year-old forward entered the game already among the WNBA’s leading rebounders and has now continued her remarkable run in her first season with Atlanta. She is averaging around 12 rebounds per game and is on course to lead the league in rebounding for a third consecutive season.

One After the Other

Angel Reese‘s latest record came only days after another standout performance against the Sparks. On Thursday, she scored 20 points without missing a shot, going 9-for-9 from the field, while recording 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals in Atlanta’s 124-88 victory.

Against Los Angeles on Monday, Atlanta also received 20 points from Allisha Gray and 18 from Rhyne Howard. The Dream controlled the second half after trailing at halftime and held on for the seven-point victory.

The Sparks were led by Nneka Ogwumike, who posted a season-high 27 points and 16 rebounds. Cameron Brink and Dearica Hamby each added 15 points, but Los Angeles fell to 13-25 and lost for the seventh time in its past eight games.

Reese’s record-breaking night also moved her within one double-double of the WNBA’s single-season record of 28, set by Alyssa Thomas in 2023.

After the game, Reese credited veteran players for helping her develop her game, specifically mentioning former WNBA rebounding leader Tina Charles and the advice Charles gave her during their time playing against each other.
