Warriors Grab Coveted Summer League Title, Lendeborg Shines with Amazing Feat

The Golden State Warriors have yet another championship banner to celebrate, even if this one won’t hang inside Chase Center.

Led by first-round pick Yaxel Lendeborg, who delivered when it mattered most, the Warriors managed to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 94-90 on Sunday to capture the 2026 NBA Summer League title at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Lendeborg finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds while helping Golden State erase a fourth-quarter deficit in a thrilling championship matchup against fellow lottery pick Cameron Boozer.

After helping Michigan win the NCAA championship earlier this year, Lendeborg became just the second player in history to win a Division I national title and an NBA Summer League championship in the same season, joining Davion Mitchell.

Second Summer League Victory

Golden State’s victory also gave the franchise its second Summer League title, putting it alongside the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers as the only teams to win multiple championships since the event began in 2013.

The title game featured a compelling subplot between Yaxel Lendeborg, selected 11th overall in June’s NBA Draft, and Memphis star Cameron Boozer, the No. 3 overall pick out of Duke.

Boozer nearly carried the Grizzlies to the title, finishing with 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

His three-pointer at the end of the third quarter gave Memphis its first double-digit lead, but Lendeborg responded with three consecutive baskets down the stretch to swing the momentum back in Golden State’s favor.

Golden State received additional contributions from Deivon Smith, who scored 21 points off the bench, while five Warriors players finished in double figures.

Despite the loss, Memphis has plenty to be excited about. Boozer, still only 19 years old, led the Grizzlies to a 4-2 Summer League record and will likely play a central role in the franchise’s rebuilding effort following the exists of Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.
