Rohit Sharma against Bangladesh in T20I Series 2019The Indian team were hoping that they would get to face Bangladesh in the second T20 game at Rajkot.

There were reports that bad weather could cancel the game and that would have been bad for Team India who were 1-0 down in the three match T20 series.

India needed to win the game in Rajkot to level the series and set up a showdown in the third and final game on November 10 which takes place in Nagpur.

Team India who played poorly and lost the first T20, retained the same playing XI and came back strong in the second T20 to win by 8 wickets.

Captain Rohit Sharma (pictured) who is standing in for Virat Kohli was hurting after losing the first T20. He knew he would have to step up and lead from the front or India would lose yet another T20 series. India has won only 2 out of their last 6 T20 series in the last 12 months and Rohit Sharma wanted to make sure that this series does not slip away.

He won the toss and had no hesitation in asking Bangladesh to bat. The openers got Bangladesh off to a good start but a run out broke up the partnership and then Yuzvendra Chahal took the key wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar to put the brakes on the scoring. Deepak Chahar and Washington Sundar sent down 8 overs between the two of them, picked up 2 wickets and conceded just 50 runs.

Bangladesh could only manage to get to 153 which was a small total given how well the pitch played.

R Sharma Wins Man Of The Match Award

R Sharma took the game away very quickly from Bangladesh as he established his authority by scoring quickly. Sharma finished with 85 runs from 43 balls at a strike rate of 197. His innings included 6 sixes and 6 fours. His knock earned him the man of the match award and showed the rest of the squad what the captain expects from them.

India will go into the third and final T20 as the favourites with odds of 1.17 to Bangladesh’s odds of 12. The odds off a draw are currently at 8.60. India are likely to retain the same side for the final T20.
