England Team against Sri Lanka must isolateEngland were set to take on Pakistan in a three match ODI series followed by a three match T20 series in July at home. The first ODI against Pakistan is set to take place on July 08 in Cardiff, the second ODI on July 10 at Lords and the final ODI at Birmingham on July 13.

England just won an ODI series against Sri Lanka and were betting favorites going into the ODI series against Pakistan. However, some members of the English squad tested positive for COVID-19 and the entire English team were forced to go into quarantine on July 04 as per current COVID-19 regulations in the country.

The squad will be subjected to a 10 day quarantine period which effectively rules them out of the ODI series. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed that they would not cancel the ODI series against Pakistan but would go ahead with a new line-up. A number of players from county cricket were called up and told them were going to have to represent England in the coming ODI series.

The new squad is as follows Ben Stokes (C), James Vince, Phil Salt, Zak Crawley, Dawid Malan, Will Jacks, Ben Duckett, John Simpson, Dan Lawrence, David Payne, Craig Overton, Lewis Gregory, Matt Parkinson, Tom Helm, Saqib Mahmood, Brydon Carse, Danny Briggs and Jake Ball.

Betting Odds For First ODI

Bet365 currently has Pakistan as slight betting favorites mainly because they are now going to be playing against an England A squad in all fairness. Pakistan are the favorites with odds of 1.80 while England are not too far behind with odds of 2.0. If England manage to win the first ODI, they might regain their betting favorite status for the second ODI.

However, it is going to be tough for this England A side to beat a very talented Pakistan ODI line-up. The list of players selected for Pakistan for the ODI series include Babar Azam (C), Shadab Khan, Abdullah Shafique, Agha Salman, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail, Faheem Ashraf, M Hasnain, Haris Rauf, M Rizwan, Hasan Ali, Sarfaraz Ahmed, M Nawaz, Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood and Usman Qadir.

Pakistan are going to be most vulnerable in their first ODI in English conditions, which makes this first ODI very important for England to win. We think this England A team will respond to the challenge and start out with a win.
