NFL News and Notes – Tuesday November 13th 2018

Updated On Nov 13, 2018 by Ryan Knuppel

National Football LeagueHard to believe we’re already heading into week 11. This season has flown by, but it has definitely been an entertaining ride thus far. Lets take a look at some of the big storylines coming out of the week 10 slate.

After inking a contract with the Saints, Dez Bryant took the practice field with the Saints and almost immediately went down with a torn Achilles. The Saints were excited to bring Dez on board, and reportedly are open to resigning him this offseason barring any setbacks in his projected 8 month recovery process. Saints players paid homage to Bryant in their Sunday win over the Bengals, with Mark Ingram throwing up Bryant’s signature “X” celebration after scoring a touchdown.

The Saints reacted quickly to the loss of Bryant, signing veteran Brandon Marshall, who was a part of the try out the Saints held last week that involved Bryant as well. Marshall spent the first part of the season with the Seahawks, making little impact and being released after week 8.

NFL Returns to Hawaii

The Los Angeles Rams announced Sunday that they will play a 2019 preseason game at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The NFL Pro Bowl was held in Honolulu up until 2016, and this marks the first NFL action in the state since. The opponent is still TBA.

KHON2 News

Rams & 49ers Stand Tall Amidst Tragedy

The state of California has had a rough week to say the least. Between the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks and the wildfires ravaging the state, the two teams are giving back in different ways. Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth decided to donate his week 10 game check to the families of the victims of the Thousand Oaks shooting (around $60,000), and several Rams players including Jared Goff, Michael Brockers and Whitworth are auctioning off their game worn jerseys to support the wildfire relief fund.

The 49ers are doing their part to combat the tragedies as well. The organization is matching their proceeds from Monday night’s 50/50 raffle to donate to wildfire relief. The 49ers are also hosting the Paradise High School football team, many of whom lost their homes in the wildfires that devastated the town of Paradise, CA.

Times Almost Up For Bell

The Le’Veon Bell saga for 2018 could be coming to a close (for now). The Steelers do not expect Bell to report by 4 PM ET on Tuesday, making him unable to play for the remainder of the 2018 season. The Steelers have won 5 straight and look like one of the hottest teams in football right now, and Bell is not a part of the equation. Bell is setting himself up to enter the 2019 offseason unscathed and healthy, looking for a fresh start and the big pay day that the Steelers wouldn’t give him. He will undoubtedly have suitors, and I doubt that Pittsburgh will try to play this game again.

Larry Fitzgerald Moving Up The Ranks

Longtime Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald now has another claim to fame for his future Hall of Fame bid. Fitzgerald is now the 2nd on the all time receiving list, passing Terrell Owens mark and finished Sunday with 15,952 receiving yards. Jerry Rice sits at #1 with 22,895 yards, which has appeared untouchable since his retirement, and very well may be, but Fitzgerald’s nuanced play and consistency as a top receiver are noteworthy all the same.
