{"id":9486,"date":"2019-05-22T16:45:29","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T16:45:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/?p=9486"},"modified":"2019-05-22T11:22:28","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T11:22:28","slug":"partypoker-to-launch-online-poker-in-nevada-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/partypoker-to-launch-online-poker-in-nevada-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"partypoker To Launch Online Poker In Nevada Soon?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/partypoker.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1477\" \/>The online poker market in Nevada hasn&#8217;t been doing all that well in recent years and one of the reasons for that is because there isn&#8217;t a lot of competition in the market. <\/p>\n<p>The <strong>WSOP NV<\/strong> is the biggest operator at the moment but all that could change rather quickly as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/reviews\/party-poker\">partypoker<\/a> is expected to launch services in Nevada soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GVC Holding<\/strong>s, the parent company of partypoker has reportedly applied for a license to launch a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/us\/states\/nevada\">sports betting platform in Nevada<\/a>. GVC has partnered with MGM Resorts International and has plans to launch \u2018<strong>Roar Digital<\/strong>\u2019 an online sports betting portal. <\/p>\n<p>While it looks like the focus is on sports betting, GVC Holdings could have other plans in mind. <\/p>\n<p>The license application in Nevada also requests for interactive gaming \u2013 terminology that is usually used for an online poker offering in the state. partypoker partnered with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theborgata.com\">Borgata Casino in Atlantic City<\/a> to offer online poker services in New Jersey. MGM Resorts owns the Borgata. <\/p>\n<p>partypoker could use a similar strategy to launch online poker operations in Nevada and give the WSOP more competition. <\/p>\n<h2>Nevada Approves GVC Application<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Nevada Gaming Control Board<\/strong> (NGCB) approved the license application from GVC earlier this month which is good news for partypoker. However, an approval from the <strong>Nevada Gaming Commission<\/strong> (NGC) is still required and the NGC is expected to make a decision before the end of this week.<\/p>\n<p>Should the NGC decide to approve the license application, GVC will obtain a 24 month provisional license during which time it will be under intense scrutiny from Nevada regulators as per state regulations. <strong>GVC will have to pay out $100k<\/strong> in order to cover the costs of the two year investigation period. <\/p>\n<p>A move by partypoker into the Nevada market will prove to be very satisfying for the online poker room, given the fact that rival PokerStars has no operations in the state. <strong>PokerStars<\/strong> is the biggest online poker room in the world but hasn&#8217;t been allowed to operate in Nevada due to past indiscretions. <\/p>\n<p>partypoker recently surpassed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/reviews\/888-poker\">888poker<\/a> to become the second largest poker room in the world and is looking to knock PokerStars out from the number one spot.
